Thread Title of the Week
I have a very clear idea of what my pony tail hair should look like. A short pony tail, neat pulled back tight anf professional looking. The sort of thing you'd see on someone driving a small BMW ;-)

I've looked at a dozen ponytails but haven't found one. I'm currently going around bald!

I've looked in Tami McCoy, Calico kitty Looking for Trouble and On Rez. Any other ideas?

How much does it cost to get someone to create a unique hair for you? Millions of Linden?

Even last week I grabbed a pair that said "mid-waist" (they had low-waist, but no high-waist), and still ended up all Joe-The Plumber-ish...

Can anyone with a LM for some good quality, apparently "Urkel-waisted" jeans?
I picked up a nice pair recently at Sartoria for $165, the Adventure faded blue jeans, comes with a belted and unbelted version. I've bought several outfits from them including a couple suits, all are worth the money. Out of all the suits I own the brown espresso there is hands down my fave.

SF Designs has a lot of classy stuff as well, and not that expensive.

Most of my high-waisted jeans are freebies. Of the ones I've bought, one's from The Young Urban, three from Bare Rose (part of an outfit) and one's from MIA (which has apparently ceased trading). My best freebie jeans are from Maschienwerk. I also have a pair of high waisted black leather pants from Blaze, and a pair of black bondage pants from Snatch, and some smarter pants from Valiant.

Nyte'n'Day has some high-waisted slacks - their "GQ" series. Comes in three colors.

I am starting to become obsessive. I'm supposed to meet Sooze in Blaze tonight , but I don't want her or anyone else to see me yet because my hair and my face are not the way I want them.

I knew this would happen ;-)

Dood - chill! It's ok. We're all messing around with this stuff. I'm on my fifth hairstyle since I started. I think I'm gonna stick with this one - I got a color I like, and the style isn't bad.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but I'm fairly sure Sirena has a slicked-back hair with short ponytail among the male hair offerings. Also Analog Dog has one, though the tail is a bit curly.

Dude, don't worry about it. I don't think I'll ever be totally happy with my hair - I'm really picky about the colour, but I like a variety of styles so every time I see hair, ANY hair, in the right colour (or close-ish), I buy it. The one I liked the best, for both style and colour, was badly made and had some horrible alpha-texturing issues, and only ever really looked good in photos, from certain angles.

The thing is, in SL people are tweaking their appearance all the time. Everyone does it, and no-one will think it odd if you keep changing and look a little different next week.

Exactly. I spent ages finding the right style, and the one I'm wearing now has been mine for nearly a year now, and I'm not changing it.

Please, drive something better than a BMW. Do you know what kind of reputation you get if you drive a BMW? :-D

Noo... Go along to Philotic Energy, and have a quiet IM with Aemilia Case, who creates the hair there. She was extremely helpful with getting a customised colour for my hair (although I know for sure that a customised texture is MUCH easier than a customised style).

Actually I'm intending to learn how to make hair, because I'm playing a lot on the newer grids (open life and legend city) and there isn't much prim hair there yet. I'll make that short ponytail my first project, and see how it goes.

See this is my problem. I can run in and out of a discount store and buy whatever's on sale and be done in 20 minutes, but once I go to a specialty store and think about image or a "look", I'm reduced to a puddle of indecisive compulsivity ! My life grinds to a halt -- while I obsesss.

Maybe Robert should just get a pair of old jeans and a ripped shirt, and lean back and drink a Bud ...

You don't have to be perfect first shot out of the box!

I do a lot of business casual, but am slowly adding other pieces. I'm not a fashionista - I just buy what I like.

I still am afraid to be seen in public ;-) but I really want to go to the party.

Any suggestions on where to get 1940's men's clothes?

thanks

Vindi Vandaloo has a really nice zoot suit that's a bit pricey. Supposedly Jet Doll carries an inexpensive one but I didn't see it in the store. The men's section is currently nearly empty.

I just may get The Vindi Vandaloo - I like it

Another possibility is 1-800-Bettie.

Or just come in whatever. You don't have to come in '40's duds - I'm not going to eject you if you don't.
