I suspect this was a post in response to several posts, not just mine. I didn't call you names, nor did I endorse those who did (although there is a certain hilarity in some of the words used. Come on, admit it. You laughed a little.) All I did was point out that you have completely failed to live by the standards you are holding Sarah to, and that you have taken what she did completely out of context and refused to do anything other than repeat the same argument in different forms.

Plus, this claim that you attacked her actions and not her? Come on. That's as transparent as cellophane, and nobody is buying it. It was an attack on her any way you stack it, and you timed your attack for a moment when you knew she was incredibly hurt and upset, which is, as far as I'm concerned, completely below the belt.

Nevertheless, you are entitled to your opinion, and there is no problem with dissenting with the majority here. It's your approach that elicited the responses you are complaining about. It was a poor showing. Your argument could have been much more professional and compassionate, and it would not have gotten the response it did. You reap what you sow. That's all I was saying, along with the fact that a change in that approach will go a long ways towards healing the bad feelings you have caused here today.

Jahar hasn't been a sweetheart in this thread - actually I think he's been sanctimonious in the extreme - but apart from calling Sarah's comment to LL "dumb as dogshit" (which he's apologized for) he hasn't told anyone to fuck off, said fuck you to anyone, or called anyone "fuckchop".

Those things have happened to him, though, repeatedly.

This kind of is really a blot on this otherwise great community. It's possible to stick up for one's friends without stooping to the level, or below the level, of those who one perceives as attacking them.

The timing on this is apt.

I loved Second Citizen, but one of the reasons it imploded was that a behavior double-standard became acceptable... illustrated by an escalating abandonment of civil discourse.

Maybe forums have a natural life span, but I hope that's not the case at SLU. I love this place and the people in it, even the ones that I want to beat with the clue hammer.
