Sim Sponsorship?

Was told that some sims have sponsors that help with tier cost. Is there a place to inquire about this?

Thanks

Seriously. You didn't even bother to explain what you wanted to do with a sim or why anyone would want to sponsor you. If someone is going to sponsor anything, they need to know what they are sponsoring and what's in it for them. All you've done is ask a vague question and insult people. Without any information, it looks like you just want someone to buy you a half sim and pay your tier for you. You don't need a sponsor, you need free cash. I wish you luck. It's going to be a tough sell.

Maybe you can get a sponsorship from the crown prince of Nigeria. I got an email that says he's giving away lots of money.

Maybe my post was too harsh. Tell you what. I'll try to help you find a sponsor.

Try these guys! They look legit. Maybe they'll sponsor you.

No. I was here first.

Also, if you'd ever actually offered a legitimate reason why people might be interested in sponsoring you, you probably wouldn't have been mocked so thoroughly on the official forums. Can you honestly not see why we would be amused by some complete stranger showing up and basically saying, "Give me money! Why? Oh, just because I asked"?

Here! You like telling people to go away. Maybe these guys are a perfect fit. See if they will sponsor you.

You also like calling them assholes, so how about the good folks at Tucks?

Or these guys, who I found by typing in a random URL to see what popped up. Holy crap! I bet they have sponsorship money available:

Yeah. That's usually the Government's job. Or if you have teenagers in the house.

In all seriousness. Did you ask the person who told you about sponsorship where to find it? That's what this asshole would have done.

Sims are sponsored all the time. but I guess a forum full of smart ass's was the wrong place to look. (must be a vBulletin thing, they always attract ass holes.

Ok, I'll bite. There are some sims that are sponsored by people willing to contribute tier monies towards what they see as a "public good." I sponsor the SL Botanical Gardens, for example. Some land parcels are sponsored by members of a group who are willing to commit extra tier to land used by group members, the Forum Cartel Hangout is an example.

If you are not contributing something back to the community you will find little interest in anyone sponsoring. The way forward would be for you to buy the sim yourself and rent out the other half to make up the other part of the tier cost. It will take a bit of time to pay off the initial set up cost, but that really is the only way forward for you. No one is going to just buy you a sim, that doesn't happen.

Land/sims have regular costs that have to be planned for, just like paying rent/mortgage/car loans. You have to have sufficient income and plan for the monthly expense. Unless you have sufficient RL income and desire to front the cost yourself for your own enjoyment, you must have a business plan for covering costs and it must be brutally honest. Your plan must account for boom times as well as bust times because there will be both. Taking on too much debt without a cushion and backup plan is a mistake in both RL and SL, as any cursory glance at the current news headlines will tell you.

I have had the privilege to have a patron that sponsors my work. But with everything that's going on around us in the financial world, he is planning on selling one of the sims to me and hanging onto the second one. He just can no longer afford the 500 dollars a month maintenance fees.

You're going to find it quite hard to find sponsors unless you're doing something very artistic and unique and/or something educational. If you're doing either of those I would talk to NMC's Larry Pixel and they may be able to allocate a temporary sim for you. FAIR WARNING: Larry is a serious guy and a real life CEO, be very mindful of your language and do not take any stupid ideas to him saying I recommended you talk to him.

Well the original post had a link to the sim to show what were are doing there.

But since that got nothing but smart ass comments I removed it as I don't want those type of people there.

"Here's a SLurl" is generally not enough to pique anyone's interest...people need motivation and you didn't supply any. *shrug*

See, that's the kind of post that makes me go all warm fuzzy and want the break out the helpful in family size packs.

A pity I have enough respect for Cristiano to keep this thread SFW. A pity I don't have thousands of dollars, I would just lurve to sponsor an entire sim for someone determined to be an asshat n00b.

I have the perfect sponsor for you, based on your post:

Stacy's Pita Chips

I would email them for you, but I've got this thing going on in another thread that's keeping me busy. You don't act, do you? Speak Spanish? I'm looking for extras.
