| M's new user friendly client? In M Linden's recent blog post he said... Quote:
![]() But in any case I thought I might as well post a screenshot of something that could be coming to a viewer near you. ![]() In the menu there is now a landmarks menu. that pretty much a standard browser bookmark menu. In the address bar (from left to right) Half circle button - Collapses the menu to get it out of your way. Back button - TP you to your last location Forward button - TP you to the location you were at when you hit the back button Downward pointing triangle - Seems to be a history button. drops down a list of where you have been. Home button - send you to your home location The "i" in the circle - Opens the about land box The address bar itself - where you type the SURLS triangle - address bar history the person with an arrow icon - basically a go button, sends you to the address in the bar. Below the bar is the new preferences dealing with the address bar. All in all I like it, but I don't think this is what M was talking about. it's nice but no great leap in making the viewer better for new people. Well that's my 2 linden cents. ![]() | |

My Mood: | That's not the main thing he's talking about that's for sure. His key phrase was "first hour." The browser-like teleport convenience is not a first hour thing, that's an always thing. It will however benefit first hour in that it resembles an interface they already know and finally newbies will see the SLURL = URL, land = webspace, buildings and land objects = content, attachments = applets metaphors What he means is to find a way to get new people familiar with the interface and other SL stuff all within the first hour. THIS I'm waiting to see. Having helped so many newbies I like seeing improvements in the first hour area. Not everyone is someone like me (or most people here) that we "get" the interface quickly.

My Mood: | good improvement. i don't think this is *the* client though, it's one little feature duct taped to the old beast of a client. |

My Mood: | Typical Linden fare. More whiz bang features and not addressing the basic problems. Gee perhaps we could fix the things that have been wrong with it since 1.2?
