Original Poster comes on asks why her friend named IvanErection Oh had his named changed.

People tell her because Linden Labs has a PG name policy.

She gets vexed and starts calling people suckups and repeats her original rant.

People say .. No really LL makes the rules they decide.

She invites all her freinds to come on and start calling people idiots.

They all get reminded that SL is just a Fucking Game (Brenda came up with that one) and LL owns it, and can rename whoever they want.

They don't like this and start insulting people. Start an entirely different inane thread about names.

Start comparing their need to have the name they want with the first amendment.

People tell them theres no first amendment in a fucking game owned by someone else ...

They start dredging through people's profiles looking for dirst and start calling people names based on that.

Including saying that I evidently sell myself to men, women and animals.

So we remind them that their are standards of behavior an the forums, but they are unrepentant.

And thats basically where it is at now.

At this point I only log in when I have to. Do some scripting, IM a few customers, maybe go to someones show. I really haven't been around just exploring in quite some time. SL right now is sort of "meh" to me. But, I have been like this before, then I get an idea, or motivation, or whatever and I return and go do something fun. My advice? Enjoy your self outside of SL. Go spend time how you want to. SL will be there waiting when you feel like coming back. When SL looses its fun, the time has come to scale back.

I'm most annoyed they pulled the "Drag your profile into the forums debate" stunt.

Since that is really a low tactic.

I'm really glad I don't work or build, or anything that would make me have to log in. That has to be tough, especially those of you who came in the early days when it was all shiny.

I've been in an SL rut for a loooooong time now. Most of the time I log in only for a couple of shows and to check on my little store. The days of just hanging out in-world are long past for me.

I have been trying to gear my commercial activity in SL exactly for these times - no commitments - low (or no) service.. I dont have to be there! lol. like over the summer I made more $L when I was on holiday for 3 weeks far from any sign of internet connection

I'm in a bit of a rut myself. The business I've been running since late 2006 is once again having .. woes. It's not entirely fun having the rug pulled out from under you over and over again. My boyfriend (PurpleWolf) and I have never been able to afford even a single sim, let alone our 2 that we've been using the past year or so. What with the charity footing the bill pulling out of SL, we're not gonna have a place to be quite possibly, and that business was the only reason either of us even plays SL anymore.

So I've been avoiding logging on as much as I can recently other than scrambling to find someone to host us. Glad to know I'm not the only one in a rut. :\

Only in the past few days have I logged in for anything other than business. I hung out at Io's show in Darkmere two days ago and last night at Grady's.

Before that, I can't remember the last time I logged in for recreational purposes.

I've gone through phases where I didn't log in as often, but I've never been out of SL for long. My friends keep me coming back. I love hanging out with my friends in world, and I still love to explore. The creativity of some of the sims truly amaze me. I may not log in as often, but I can't say I'm ever bored while I'm there. There's always something new to look at, or more trouble to get into. You just have to look for it.

You can't solve an SL rut inside SL as far as I've noticed. You've been busting your ass in SL for 3 years now, Sarah. You're going to burn out sometimes. Step back, do what you need to to keep your businesses going, but also find something to keep your sanity intact.

I'm in a bad rut now I guess, but it's only partially because of SL. It's also because of my RL situation. I'm really getting sick of being unemployed and sitting at home all the fucking time. I've been applying for jobs all over the place, and some of these interviews have gone well actually ... but I think the earliest I'll actually start working will be early november. Which means another month of just sitting her like a vegetable. I wanna do something. I wanna make money (and no, I refuse to accept unemployment welfare). -_-

Previous times I've taken these ruts as a reason to disappear from SL for 3-4 months completely. But this time I have a SL partner I really do care about, so I'm trying to just fix the rut without disappearing again.

Unemployment chips aren't welfare in the US because we pay unemployment taxes our entire working lifes. It's an insurance policy the federal government forces us to carry. We're forced to participate in the federal retirement program as well. Legislatively that's a voluntary process; but our realistic choice is to pay into the program or live in a jail cell.

Ever get in a country slump and wanna live somewhere else? Cornwall's just too damn expensive and short on jobs right now. Hong Kong will work but I can't do that til 2010. Was gonna visit over Christmas; now it has to wait til Spring Break in March. Spring Break is such a crock. Half the students don't come back physically or, at least, mentally. It's truly detrimental to education but who am I to argue.
