I'd think a thread like this would be justified if the adverts were severely egotistical and packed to the brim with superlatives (laughable claims) and other unintentionally humorous and blatantly unnecessary, overboard crap.

If that were the case though, I'd suppose we'd have an entire subforum dedicated to SLX listing ridicule.

Hahhaaa...Goddang it. Now I'm laughing again. That was a frustrating and stressful day in RL, and that little impromptu gathering with those dumb Lincoln masks just seriously took a huge load off of me and made me feel great.

SAY MY NAME, ATLANTA! SAY MY NAME! THAT'S RIGHT, ABE'S YOUR DADDY! SAY IT!

I'm sending that picture to my aunt in Georgia. She's not going to like it.

I'm of two minds about this.

On the one hand I've really gone on a rant when some people *cough* take photos of people inworld to post on a blog and ridicule. To me, just having bad taste or poor slider skills is not enough to be stalked and photoed and ridiculed in public.

On the other hand anyone who is selling something IS putting it on public display, for public assessment, so they will BUY IT.

No one would think, omg, you can't say that CD sucks it would hurt the artist's feelings.

Well, if they were giving it away, maybe not but..... let's be real, all of us have been shocked at something we have seen for sale in SL that we wouldn't take if they were giving it away.

Personally, if someone posted something I made with a WTF and everyone agreed, I would be hurt but grateful to a certain extent. I really don't want to think I'm fooling myself about what I create. On the other hand if it was selling well I would shrug and post, well it may not be to your taste but my customers like it so too bad for you.

I think it was more about not wanting to be THAT forum. There's plenty of blogs and forums where overly critical, fashionista types declare what is and isn't good or bad fashion. I've always despised this sort of behavior as it's rude, arrogant and thoughtless for all of the reasons mentioned by the posters in this thread.

Not too mention there are better things to do than slam someone's self esteem who went through the trouble to contribute something to the community, regardless of anyone's opinion of the result. at least they are making an effort. Nothing irritates me more than people who sit afar and pass judgement on someone else's work when they are too inept or unwilling to attempt it themselves.

I guess, thinking back on it, it would bother me a lot more if it were this forum or the SL forums where I consider myself among friends. if it were total dtrangers on the internet or some blog trashing and ridiculing me, I might be irritated, but i would be really hurt. If it were you guys (and remember I'm talking ridicule and derision, not constructive criticism) then it would hurt.
