The prizes were great, but one of the best things about it was that I got to find fantastic new stores I didn't know about. And it was like a scavenger hunt, hopping all over the grid. I had a lot of fun. And seeing other people with cards stuck to them at the locations was fun, because you'd run into them again at the next store, so you were kind of racing around together.

Anyway, I love that idea or something like it for Hair Fair.
to all of that.

I understand that having a bunch of stores spread around the grid would negate the literal "Fair / booths clumped together in one big mess" thing that they've gone for the last couple years, but this year has been a (widely spaced, ugly) clusterfuck in terms of design.

Actually, I have a plan called the "distributed event model" which works on that basis. The main problem with it is that it relies on people contributing land in different sims which is then allocated to participants, which is a lot harder for individuals other than land barons to do. But the scripting to take people from place to place is trivial and the lag is drastically reduced.

I drew some of the inspiration from the Brian Eno 77 Million Paintings exhibition a while back, which was distributed across five participating sims, and despite the exhibits being both scripted and popular, was quite manageable.

Oh! At the stamp rally, you got the card prims included with select items from the participating stores. If the Hair Fair went this route, they could include the redeemable cards with the bandanna purchases, but give away the HUDs for free. So you wouldn't have to buy a bandanna to participate in Hair Fair, but if you did, you could play the game and get a prize or something. Win-win.

Each participating store could be required to give out the HUD with ALL the other landmarks on it. What fun it would be to zip around (when i'm not crashing) discovering new stores. Put the charity items up front along with freebies and the stores would also benefit from shoppers browsing the rest of their place right on the spot.

But of course it won't happen. It's way too convenient for the customer.
And of course it would cut Rezzable out of the mix. And we can't have that.

Ummm, some posts sound like the stamp rally was already finished. But it is actually running till the 31st. See the webpage.

Just to sum up the process: You buy an item including a stamp card in one of the participating shops. Then you attach the card to any attachment point on your body or as HUD (you can wear multiple ones at once), then you teleport to every other participating store and get their stamp. As soon as you got all 20 stamps, you go to the maincenter and choose a gift from one of the stamp card stations.

Oh crap. I got 2 stamps already from items I bought, I should probably think about someday actually using them if it's only 5 days left.

I think using the Creator's Stamp Rally model is a great idea as that event has gone pretty smoothly. I was out in the middle of it the day it started and never experienced the sort of mess that is Hair Fair. some of the stampers were a bit iffy, I think because they were being bombarded, but most locations had two stampers out anyway. Because the crowd is broken up into several different stores, it really helps the lag.

The only place there was ever any lag hangups was Koreshan, which housed 3 of the participating stores.

Links to nice guy hair, hopefully no hipster, emo, buttrock, or anime hair among them. sue me if you have seen these.
