Also, the world needs more quality freebies.

And is it just me or is it getting harder to shift full perms freebies? Maybe there's so much free stuff out there now that people are less likely to just pick up things that are free to copy? Has the freebie market become over-saturated?
Yes and yes. People don't want to give out freebies full perm because they know people will turn around and sell them.

It's over saturated with a lot of crap. Anyone who has been around long enough knows as a newbie you had an inventory full of crap you will never wear again. Generally speaking, if it's a good, well known designer, grab them, it's a good thing.

Really, if you had nothing but freebies and 5L items, I probably wouldn't bother unless I was dressing an alt quickly. It's actually better to sell them at bargain prices. Plus I would be afraid eventually your stuff will wind up all over the grid and pretty much worthless.

Edit to add, nothing stopping you from giving away quality freebies at your store as well, though.

Actually that's probably where I got the idea from. *some sort of embarrassed emoticon*

I don't really mind, but I've only once heard of someone reselling a freebie I made. It might annoy me if it happened a lot though, I dunno.

What's a good bargain price that isn't too cheap? I'm terrible at pricing things and mostly just make up a number.

Mostly clothes. Somewhere I picked up the idea that 100L was a good price for an item, though that seems too high to my mind.

I just jumped on my alt and looked at your store, it's very well done and the clothing is really cute!

I bought one of the shirts for 50L. (note: impulse buy)

Hon I think your stuff is already reasonably priced and the only thing I might do is go down 50L on the dresses because not everyone likes the hand drawn look, although I do.

Thanks for the advice, I'll do that next time I'm in-world. Then I will go look at that shop with the 4000L outfits to see what they're like. I am quite cheap when I buy things. There were some Stilletto Moody shoes I actually liked the look of but not for 1000L or whatever they cost. This is probably evidence of how cheap we can be in online games, or something.

here is my thoughts on clothing prices: we are talking high quality work

pants and tops - 75- 100
dress, no options - 150 - 250
dress with many options - 200 -300
gowns - no options - 200-300
gowns with options - 300-600
sets /suits - 150-300 ( 300 being difft pant/skirt/top options/ some scripting with attachments

as for shoes - this range should be from 150 - 500 at the most. no farking shoe is worth more then that unless its one of a kind.

one designer charges 1k for her dresses, i like them yes, but um no get a grip on reality.

I like your style and that you all have one that is similar.

I will buy an outfit for my alt and post pics to throw some traffic your way.

furniture is another one that is priced ranged all over the place.

Abiss makes really nice sculpted furniture and i drooled when my friend tp'd me over there. for a scripted couch ( tons of animations from sex to cuddle) is about 2600L. For a couch people. But they know that someone will buy it if they really want it. The unscripted is 1500L

Even though i still bought it, i got angry that people would charge that much. It just made me want to create sculpted furniture even more.

There's three of us now, one who does skins and one who makes the clothes to pay for uploads on builds. It all seems to more or less mesh together cos we all aim for the "hand-drawn look" and I've learned some stuff from them. It's also just more fun to "play shop" with other people.

Is your alt sexy?

ALSO! Does anyone really hate the thing where clothes are on hangers? I've been reconsidering my love of that sort of thing lately, even though I think it looks v posh.

Paying a lot for furniture is different to me than paying a lot for clothes, but that's probably because I'm more likely to buy one or two pieces and no more than that -- ever -- since it's for my skybox and not a full house.

If it's crammed with good animations, I'd expect to pay a lot. 10 animations (approx.) in, say, a chaise lounge for 2500L makes sense to me since most other animations in SL are priced 150L - 350L. It's almost like paying for the anims and the furniture is a bonus.

Unscripted, anything over 500L isn't going to happen.

I love those little realistic touches, like at Shop Seu and Kari -- Kari's jeans come folded up in crates. It looks adorable and gives an almost touchable look to the prims.

Yes.

I'm going to practice on making shoes, then when I have something, I'll dispense as freebies.

In sizes, no less.

Does it bother people that you can't see the back on that sort of display though?

*wonders how to fold jeans in SL*

Shoes! For some reason I'm quite cheap about shoes. I think most of the ones I have were free or from Lucky Chairs or the like. Or v cheap from a Japanese shop (I've always wondered why Japanese stuff is so cheap, by the way.)

Will the shoes have bling and sexy walk and that clicking sound?

It does look posh but I forgot one thing. You need photos of models wearing the clothing as well, because sometimes it looks much different on, or it's hard to tell. It doesn't have to be all the dresses, just put up your best ones.

Edit: all my avies are sexy!

Excellent idea! Also it'll give me an excuse to play with the poses I've made recently.

Well, on dresses it may because the dress could be backless / have a realllllllly low cut, which I may not be looking for (but I'm a tart, so unlikely), etc. In that case, hangars work best. But for pants and full shirts / sweaters, it's a nice touch to have them folded (even alongside traditional displays, just as an accent). If the pants were assless chaps, I'd assume it would be mentioned on the vendor art or in a tooltip if the back itself wasn't visible.

And he used sculpties. He uses sculpties a lot and makes them look really organic and tangible, which I love.

Nope. No toothpaste commercial "shine", coconut sounds, or 15-degree tilted walks.

Though they'll likely be classic primmy -- no sculpts.

Pricing is the hardest thing for me too. After reading this I'm kinda paranoid about my pricing...

My swords I just priced similar to the competition, but some cheaper, simpler items to meet that demand.
