| Looking for a place to rent I've been searching around for a place to rent (SL of course). I'll eventually buy some land but for now I'd like to just have a little apartment I can put some furniture in, have friends over, etc. What I'd like to find is a neighborhood with a fair amount of people around and a good deep city atmosphere. A loft above a store would be great. Think Hollywood type area. I've searched around in the Residential search section but so far haven't found anything that really grabs me.I don't need anything super large, but I definitely want atmosphere. Can anyone recommend some places for me to look? Also if you have any tips I should know for renting that would be perfect. I'm still new so I'm not totally familiar with things like what prim count is good, etc. |

My Mood: | Some of the urban RP sims sometimes have apts for rent but that may be more atmosphere than you want You really do have to be careful crossing the street in some of them. As far as prims go it totally depends on how much furniture etc. you're rezzing. When I had my rental at Sappho I think i had about 100 prims which was plenty for the size of the space.

My Mood: | A loft *above* a store would probably be problematic, because of noise and privacy issues. Also if you happen to live above a KFC, it might smell of oily fries and stuff, so that's nasty. ![]() I can't think of a city themed estate right of the top of my head. Odd, when you mention it.

My Mood: | Renting out space along the vertical space can work if you don't care about stuff like dealing with parcel controls (IE: Access & audio/video)... but personally it would drive me nuts to not be able to do that on land I pay money for. As far as city-themed places that rent? Mm.. Kowloon is a cool city build... dunno what the community is like though. Its creator is Japanese and I do believe most of the community centered around it is Japanese as well. |

| Thanks everyone. I'll take a look around at the urban RP areas and Kowloon, and hmmm... I was thinking about doing some building in here and now I wonder if I should expand my horizons and think bigger. ![]() |

Just buy your own parcel....its still considered renting since you are paying LL a fee to have the land. ![]() You get 512 meters free if you are a premium member so if you buy a 1024 plot, you get twice the prims (512m x 2) for a small monthly tier fee...which is cheaper then renting I believe. Then you can stream your own music to it, build whatever you want, and run around naked with scissors if you'd like. (as long as its mature land) EDIT: If you got a 1024 plot, you would be paying LL $5 us for the land (because the first 512 meters is free as far as tier fees go) $5 US = approx $1350L per month...which is much cheaper then renting. My Mood: | I'd recommend Cherry Tree rentals. They have nice places I've rented an apartment and little bungalow overlooking linden protected ocean. Both great places. I'd recommend renting first if you aren't sure you wanna make the commitment of buying land just yet. I asked the same quest and was told Ohh buy land buy land. I say wait stretch your legs and keep your eyes open for that perfect piece of land at the right prices. |
