If if didn't apply here, why even bother saying it?

Maybe a less abusive way of putting things would be less likely to get you misunderstood.

Have a nice day.

Um, I don't see anything in the OP that was close to "lookit how I pwnd this bitch". It seemed to me a sincere question about whether she overacted. And given that the majority of us felt her response was mild compared to what we would have said, I don't think it worked if that was her intention, heh.

I was sweet and loveable when I arrived in SL, buts its amazing what uninvited octopedal bath companions and impregnation by monstrous aliens (faciliated by the actions of so-called friends) can do to ones outlook on life.

Reap what yee have sown, oh thrice accursed trinity of evil (Lucifer, Charlemagne, and Celes) !!!!111!!!!

Well, golly gee whiz. I sure am glad you've got me pegged as someone who twists and misquotes instead of being someone who just focuses on the crux of someone's point (as well as ignoring their attempts to backpedal two posts after throwing out an insult).

Whew!

And I agree with Beez. If you'd used a slightly smaller tar-covered brush in your description of SLU, I wouldn't have been as curious. Instead, you looked as though you were thumbing your nose at any thread that didn't fit your own predetermined criteria as being "machismo bullshit" -- which is insulting to anyone who has created or participated in those threads. I'm sure you can understand how people would be curious, myself included.

Can I make a little general observation? ... no?

Tough shit .. gonna anyway!

I've seen a lot of threads, mostly "the other place" on this genre of "What does the panel think?" I remember an old radio series that worked on that principle. With just a panel of three there could be some wildly diverse opinions. The thing is, we all have our own threshold. There are some who would rise at the least significant spark and there are those who would just walk away from a blaze .. and every degree between. We all have our own idea of when to give the verbal or push off down the bar for a drink with Trout and save the effort.

The question is usually black and white "Did I go too far?" Now, it isn't always easy to see whether that's the kind of newbie "I'm new to this and don't understand; did I do wrong?" or the "Sorry guys, am I getting punch drunk? should I have just left it?" Which ever it is, it shouldn't affect our opinions and therefore doesn't really need analysing. Just answer the question.

When someone does try to analyse the question is often where the trouble starts. I'm surprised nobody's brought up the subject of hearing the other persons explanation of events; that's an old favourite too.

I love the forums and I have a masochistic liking for these kind of threads too .. but it's sad to see friction build up between posters. Does everyone who simply wouldn't have risen to it, become a doormat?
Well this doormat says Welcome .. usually ... but sometimes just walks away. I get crap IRL. I come here to escape it.

I'm guessing this means "go to war with the person we perceive has insulted us or just ignore it and go down to the bar for a drink with Trout".

If that's correct, then the first round is on me. Belly up folks!

What is this "Other Place" you speak of?
