I've been wondering for some time how many female avs in SL are really females in RL and vice versa of course. I know you can have alts. I have a few alts myself, both female and male, for my business.

In this poll I'm thinking about your main account.

Are you the same gender in SL as in RL?

I'm new to this forum, so I'm sorry if this is an old question.

I swear if this thread turns into another "SL women who are guys in RL look like this and SL women who are also women in RL look this!" I will kill.

The last time this happened I outfitted three guys with believable female avatars just to spite... well, I don't know who exactly. I just spited.

You're welcome. Be careful with this topic, I'm not sure what exactly you are trying to learn from it, but please be sensitive to the fact that people have avatars of different genders for a wide variety of reasons, many of them quite personal.

I'm sorry if this is offending someone. I thought that making it public meant anyone could see the poll result, not what each voted. I intended it to be anonymous. And I was just curious about the result and didn't try to start something.

I don't judge anyone or making fun of anyone. Sorry if it was interpreted that way

Male/Male

In SL, I have total control of what I look like, so I can easily default to a guy av.

In a lot of other games (notably medieval/fantasy RPGs) I chose the gender of the characters I think are rendered better. In most of the cases the guys are way too beefcake for me.

Some games, like Oblivion (or Fallout 1/2), pin specific gameplay mechanics on genders, so I would go with what I'd have the most fun with, instead of what may look the best in vanity mode.
