Well done!

What about doing something for local tv - like the video of your dad or something? I've no idea how much that costs, so don't know if it's in your budget, but I imagine if you could get them to run it in a couple of slots that would reach a lot of people.

I also think the Scavenger hunt for some tickets might be good - enlist the help of a group of bars or shops in a mall (advertising for them too). Or local papers.

Hmmm. You've done really well to get this far Sarah, and I've got everything crossed for you (which is going to make walking difficult, but I suppose it's only another week...)

Is there a local bar where maybe you could do a NIN Trivia competition, with concert tix as the prize? Maybe CDs as consolation prizes...

Most places would be in anything that gets clientele in the door to buy drinks and maybe you could advertise in local papers cheaply with some of your marketing money???

Is there local TV that might cover the madness? Or a local chat show or current affairs show that might do a story on what you're doing ... it's total human interest fuzzy stuffs that they love to do, and the whole competition, being down to the last two is right up their alley. You'd have to ask them not to publicise what B is doing tho. Or maybe get your mum to call them and gush about you and tell them about the competition, how you're up against a rich kid and doing it tough on a budget blah blah blah...

I like Sophia's idea with the Christmas lights thing. Man, there's a LOT of great ideas in here gang! The scavenger hunt idea too. Wow.

Mabb, the trivia contest would probably be a great idea. I can't see a local bar saying "no" to that.

I don't know about your local area Sarah but a banner plane is about $500 CDN for 2 hours up here.

This is a great idea. The trick would be to find larger clubs that are already popular with the kids (I can say that because I'm old) (er).

If you rent a banner plane, think of something that's a little more attention getting than just words on a sheet. Combine the Christmas lights idea and make a display with the words outlined in LIGHTS on the banner and fly it around in the sky at night. Lights in the sky!

I think if I were you I'd see if there was a way to do this for less than the $500 the pro banner pilots charge. Like if you had a friend with a plane and a permit to do this. Making the lit banner would be harder to do - you'd have to have a power source, of course. And make sure it didn't fall apart in the slipstream...

Well it's Sunday night and this is almost over. =( I have a few things to do online and then an email to the station explaining everything I accomplished this week. Tomorrow I go to the station and find out if I get something I've wanted since I was 14, or if I didn't do enough and I lose. Either way I'm grateful for all that people have done for me over the last month. The support and help I received is just amazing, and no matter what happens I have had a great experience with a lot of close friends sl and rl and family. After I get everything online done I need to do tonight, I'll post my final list of everything that was done the last 4 weeks, because I'm proud of what was accomplished and the help I received. Thank You guys.

Sarah, it's been an awesome ride.

I wasn't kidding when I said being part of this was the most fun I've had in SL in almost a year.

I had a blast with the build and the event and had the opportunity to meet folks in SL that I never otherwise would have. Seeing a bunch of friends pull together in this effort was amazing.

It was an honour and a pleasure being part of this.

Regardless of the final outcome today - WE have all won just having had the pleasure of helping you with this.

Thank you.

Good luck Sarah. You are far more deserving of this prize then that other guy.

Sorry, I missed out on the concert the other night. I tried getting there, but there were 55 avi's already in the sim. When I TP'ed over, I was stuck falling in mid-air for awhile...then was frozen in lag for about 5 minutes. I gave up and went home. LOL
No worries though, my bout with lag was testament to the success of the concert.

Thank You guys Today's the big day. You can listen if you want at 92.3 K-ROCK :: WKRK - Cleveland - Homepage
I have to be there at 4 so I think I'll be on sometime between 4 and 5. Which would be 1-2 SL time. Fair warning I get really really nervous on air. Last time I mumbled and chocked when they asked me what the stations web address was. I knew it, but I panicked lol. Although maybe its a good idea if you don't listen in case I cry lol. Every week I had to send them an email explaining what I was working on or accomplished through the week. He's my final email I had to send in for judgment....

Week one
*Decorated my van and the street team cars
*Designed Fliers and printed our own*
*Distributed fliers to the Foo Fighter and Indians game traffic*
*Painted the famous KSU Campus Rock
*Made a video for the $20 live nation promotion
*Put my mom half naked at Tallmadge circle to hold a sign for for the steady flow of traffic for the Summit county fair

Week Two
*Drove to Chagrin falls to get new fliers
*Drove to Cleveland to get the promo tickets so we can get our contest promotions started
*Traded two tickets to put nails posters on the backs of 19 semi's that travel day and night around the entire Cleveland area.
*Handed out free lemonade and fliers in the name NIN at two festivals this weekend in Hartville and Atwater. Sounds silly, but free drinks in a high traffic area on a hot day attracts TONS of people who read your fliers, look at your signs and talk to you about nails, and I could talk about nails all day long!
*Worked a deal with Jess of my street team to design buttons that are being made now that we will be handing out at several events in the upcoming week.
*Placed fliers in car windows, store fronts, and basically anywhere they let us.
*I have a volunteer to start a stage set up in Second Life for the huge virtual event we will be having in a few weeks.
*Started contacting local clubs looking for locations to hold a contest.
*Worked more on our myspace page devoted to our promotions and progress.
MySpace.com - Nine_Inch_Nerds - 30 - Female - KENT, Ohio - www.myspace.com/nine_inch_nerds
We were going to do an official website but decided that a place like myspace with an established user base and traffic flow would make more sense than an unknown website no one would see.

Week Three we.....
*Got our 2000 buttons from Jess and started distributing them. We handed them out at public places as well as got free button bowls set up at the register of stores like the campus book store.
*Printed more posters at Kinkos and continued to get posters up on as many store windows, street corners, and as many high traffic areas as possible. Stores, salons, businesses, anywhere we possible could that let us.
*Paid my close friends uncle to wear an old Uncle Sam Halloween costume and stand at a busy intersection holding a sign.
*Did more prep work for my online Second Life Party that will be held on August 15th. I made a quick youtube of the stage set up that was built this for the event.
*Had a "sing to win Nails Tickets" Karaoke night at The Doug Out Pub and Grill. Created fliers for that and got them up all over the place as well. Made a quick video of that but my crappy camcorder died before the night was over so I apologize for the crappy cell phone pictures of the last hour of the event. But this is the video of the DJ announcing the event and a few of the first singers we had.

-------------------------------------
Week FOUR!!! Final Week!!!!
*I haven't used much of my promotion money aside from a few fliers because everything I've done I've been able to pay for on my own or make. I figured I would use the money to get ads out in as many papers as possible. Carrie has already done that and suggested using 300 dollars for indieclick which puts ads on several local websites. It was an awesome idea and I really appreciate her setting that up for me.

*I bought a facebook ad that would only appear for those in the Cleveland area announcing the show and linking to livenation.

*Made a new video of me being held hostage at gunpoint by people demanding Nails tickets. We had a lot of fun with this one.

*Made a "fake" ebay ad to cock block the scalpers, made it a featured auction that appeared above all other nails ticket listings. When clicked it explained that there was no need to buy tickets on ebay because they were still available and could be bought from Live Nation | Concert Tickets and Concert Tour Dates for as little as $20 dollars.

*Went to the House of Blues to hand out fliers at the Bullet for my Valentine, and Cancer Bat concert. This went really really well. There were tons of nails fans and people interested in hearing about the show. We handed out a lot of fliers and buttons and talked to a lot of people. We met the lead singer of cancer bats, and even that turned into a conversation about NIN. Lots of pictures of this on my myspace and flickr and we also made a video.
I felt really good after this show because I think we reached a lot of people and they were very receptive to hearing about the show.

*I bought a message for the Indians scoreboard for both the Friday game and the Sunday game. I was not at the Friday game because I had my online event that day, and at the Sunday game I didn't take a picture fast enough. I have my receipts for both days though. The message read... "Nine Inch Nails Fans, See you at Quicken Loans Arena on August 22nd." I would have added more but thats all the number of characters would allow. Both games had nearly 30,000 in attendance.

*I made matching T-shirts for me and all of my family that had the NIN logo, and read 8-22 at the Q. For ticket information please see Live Nation | Concert Tickets and Concert Tour Dates and then had the K-Rock logo. I thought it would be a good to advertise to anyone who looked at us while we handed out fliers at the Indians game.

*Handed out fliers before and after the Indians game. Even had my kids handing them out which worked really well because no one refuses a flier from a cute kid. There was a heavy crowd there so I think it went well and a lot of people were reached. Lots of pictures on my flickr page. Collection: Nine Inch Nails Promotion Month
Funny sidenote.. You know how people beg with hats after the games? My youngest saw a man standing with his hat out and ran over and put a flier in his hat thinking thats what he wanted.

*I rented fence space at the entrance of the Randolf Fair which runs from the 18th to the 22th. This is where I am retiring the black sign that I took with me to most all of my events since the start of this contest. Thousands of people enter those gates fair week and it's the biggest fair of this type in Ohio.

*Learned that is is NOT ok to hang large banners on a bypass over highway 76, but it's perfectly acceptable to walk up and down the bypass while happening to carry the giant banner while people driving below honked. Since the first placement plan for the banner did not work, it found a new home on a fence that runs along 76 that is behinds a friends apartment building. It still gets seen by the same highway 76 traffic, only legally =).

*Added signs to a new batch of posters to the backs of Yellow freight semi's on Cleveland area routes.

*Kent State students are moving back this week, so I put fliers and posters up on Kent bus stops, the doors of the dorms, and in several campus buildings.

*Held our virtual Nine Inch Nails concert event in Second Life. This went even better than expected. I had an amazing DJ who played a set list comparable to a real nails shows while a virtual trent avatar performed. The stage was perfect, with lighting effects and all. I thought it would go well because we advertised it heavily on the web, but the response was amazing. Several people came to be part of the virtual audience and played Nails video trivia to win tickets to the Cleveland show. The event was planned to last two hours but went on for over 4. We made video with clips of the event. I'm still amazed at how smoothly it went and how many participated.

All of my pictures are located on my Flickr page
Collection: Nine Inch Nails Promotion Month

Sarah, I think everyone here would agree that we want this to happen for you almost as badly as you want it Your promotion has been fantastic, and the MOST fantastic part of it has been that it comes from your heart. You're not just doing this for free tickets. You're doing it because NiN is one of your life's passions.

When you get to the station, take a deep breath and be yourself. If you stumble a little, just laugh about it - people will forgive anything, especially when someone laughs at themselves first.

I'm going to be plugged in listening, with my fingers, toes and eyes crossed. I think today I'll remember to unmute my damned sound before I stream to K-rock

GO SARAH!!!

If I remember I'll send a twitter shortly before I'm on, or have my husband do it because he's going with me. I get caught up when I'm there so I might forget or might no be able to because they make us shut phones off near the studio rooms.
