Umm...
  • medical research? "despite our best efforts your patient data is irretrievably lost"
  • $330M? We've seen this "accounting" in the S&L crisis: if I sell you 16m for L$10k and you sell it back to me for L$100k and I sell it back to you for L$1m we just added US$4440 to the "economy" and no one earned a single thing. Their econometrics are useless.
  • Why have a tiresome videoconference when you can have the excitement of sitting down with dragons, fairies, and blingtards and all crash before the meeting starts?
  • nothing in SL happens on a scale that doesn't happen on the 2d internet - many things that do happen on the 2d internet would crush SL like a bug

OK,

Two things remain the same as before:

Ann OToole is a nut job
Philip Linden is in charge

I really hoped M would be different. Killer app my ass.

I think that should be a new drinking game.

Everytime "M" says "killer app" we all take a drink.

Our livers would never handle it.

From reading this I think I found Philip and Mitch's love child.

To be fair, I think you guys are misinterpreting his comments about the value of SL for meetings. I mean, how many times have you've been in a RL meeting that you wish *would* simply dissappear in a puff of smoke?

ps. Has anyone sent Mitch a "Marginal Misfit" t-shirt yet?

pps. This whole thread has been one long fest.

46 It's been 122 Days and SLUniverse is still in Violation of Trademark Guidelines Says:
July 24th, 2008 at 9:08 PM What happened to the LL Trademark ultimatum? You know, the one where those who were not in compliance would be on the bad end of LL legal action?
On March 24, 2008 Catherine Linden wrote a blog post which said:
“If, after reading the Trademark Guidelines, you realize you’re using a Linden Lab trademark incorrectly, please use the next 90 days to change your use to comply with the Guidelines.”
(Introducing the Second Life Brand Center « Official Second Life Blog)
WE’RE ON DAY 122!
If LL is going to grant amnesty to certain websites because the website owner and his friends are on a buddy system with LL then please say so. Many other website owners had to make modifications and some just shut down to comply with your new guidelines but the biggest culprit of all still remains. Why do some have to make changes and some get cake and punch when they are clearly in the wrong too? (pfft at least get an inSL logo for prims sake!)

What about SL Solutions? They need suing, too.

So does Microsoft Dynamics SL.

And let's not forget Silver Lake college! "Go! Fight! SLU!"

I'm pretty sure it is, but it isn't very well executed.

Ann Otoole Says From the LL Blog Comments:
July 24th, 2008 at 5:47 PM
Do us a favor. Evict Millions of Us and Rivers Run Red from Secondlife for their defection to Google and adoption of the policy that user created content is a negative thing. Those 2 companies need to be driven from Secondlife for forgetting their roots. They would be nothing without SL’s residents. Time for companies like that to hit the road and not let the door strike their bumpers. They are “too good” for Secondlife and need to be over in the pedo worlds where their customers throng.

There were two who said that people who badmouth SL on other blogs and interviews, etc., should be banned as traitors.

The guy I mentioned above was the other one.

Yeah, this will be a great idea, and after they've banned the last person who has exercised free speech in non-LL places, the few who are left can play tiddly-winks or something. While saying nothing "anti-LL," of course. One of them can be designated as the person who gets to decide just what constitutes "anti-LL" speech.

Prok would be totally against this, of course. He is in favor of free speech.

Oh I put Prok in there for good measure because s/he represents a certain dedication to the message, a certain intensity, a certain "je ne sais quoi"....

it was not a knock on him/her. :-) btw.

Prok has said things that I laughed at when I heard which in due course proved to be accurate predictions.

So maybe there's a chance for A-Tool yet? :-)
