Nice Try. Is this a new scam?

Like I'm really going to pay to join a group for over 7000L. I wonder if I really hit Join if it would take that money out of my account. I didn't but I wonder how many people might by accident.

Yeah, I get those too. Mostly they are not in English. I think it is another new scam floating around.

7500L is pretty high for a scam though. The ones I get are like 500L.

Thanks for pointing this out. I'll keep an eye open now. I never join groups, but once in great while I do by mistake trying to click off several drop downs at once.

Be very careful that they may spam you with multiple group invites and try to get you to rapidly click through them with one being to pay money.

The best thing to do would be to relog, which also goes for any sort of dialog spam (or getting rid of an unwanted friendship offer without giving them confirmation of denial.)

Yeah, it's really easy to get suckered in by these if you're not paying attention. An orange drop down for groups which you have to pay to join would probably be worthwhile.

Yeah, but that was from your early days, before you sold out to the man. My New Improved Sarah Nerd Fan Club doesn't disdain you for joining the corporate machine.

Entry fee is only L$1500 because we value inclusiveness.

They really need to add options for dialog boxes like:

Receive group invites.
Receive friend requests.
Receive inventory offers.
Receive annoying Fashion Con. group notices, even though they are off and the server update that said it would fix it didn't actually do anything!!!

Off to search Jira !!!

Or put a price limit on how much someone can charge to join a group.

Even still...sent to enough people, that could still be dangerous.

The worst part is that sometimes when I log in , I have a bunch of drop downs from different groups with invites or announcements. It gets to the point where I don't even read them and just start clicking away to remove.
Apparently someone got the bright idea to take advantage of this.

I like the idea of a different colored drop down for certain things.

Or have the drop down areas for different types of messages in different locations on the screen. Sure, it makes the screen somewhat of a mess when I log in, but the mess needs to be either deleted or read anyways.

Yeah, it always annoys me that these notices are so stacked so we literally have to dig to get to a particular one we're interested in. Until it is fixed, it pays (hihi) to read before clicking, no matter how tempting it is to let the fingers fly blind.

Ah, I know this scam. There was many of them when sploders were allowed... The scammer add all people who had joined the sploder in his invite list, and then when the gain are gived away he send the invites, and people accept them because they click OK in the dialog "XYZ paid you L$1." and click again without paying attention "accept" in the group invitation. I had a friend scammed by a group like that (L$ 100 joining fee) and there was about 500 members in the group !!!

Be very careful !

This is actually quite scary. I often click through things without reading them, and lots of off-line invites in particular would be easy to click yes too. I would hope LL comes up with a nag-box saying "Are you sure you want to pay to join this group" but i'm guess they've not done it.

I think I will make Coco, Coco and Co. an open group, and charge $500 for membership, and see if anyone joins.

i'm impervious to this one, already being in 25 groups

they don't have a confirmation checking to make sure you know you're spending money to join a group? seems like an oversight to me.
