Okay once upon a time, there used to be WinAmp that was free - you just couldn't talk between songs. But, that went away. Is there anything else? I don't have $300 for SAM, and I don't plan on DJing a lot anyway. AND - I can't use voice because I very decidedly don't sound like a 7 year old IRL.

I used to use Virtual DJ but switched to Mixxx. No messing around with plugins, it just works. Really easy to use too, but powerful enough if you really like mixing tracks.

I think this isn't the type of DJ you mean but I used this briefly to run a radio stream.

http://www.radiodj.ro/

It does some cool stuff like "play files from folder X from 10-12, now play files from folder Y from 12-6, play a file from this jingles folder every 4 tracks.

That sort of thing.

Mixxx confuses the hell out of me, personally speaking. Even the basic functionality of using and playing a playlist.
