Well, except one. I have a "default" outfit that I can slam on in a hurry if I need to. Like, when I was dancing, when the sim would crash and my naked ass got teleported to a random hub. Every time that happened, I swore that I'd wear a tip jar for the next time it happened!

One thing I use more of with the Outfits is No Copy things and random gachas, since the outfit is just a list of bookmarks it can be used with multiple outfits.

And everyone should make an EMERGENCY outfit.

Replace links. I still don't use it often enough and happen to put on outfits with outdated bodyparts or such, but I am working on it.

oh, and when building - select next link or texture (in Firestorm, not sure if it s in the official Viewer?) - I read about it when it was introduced, then couldnt find it, and then forgot about it for a long while till I finally saw those little arrows. It's so incredibly useful.

Yeah my folders are super sorted so I don't really use outfits.

I almost wish there was a way to mark an item to be excluded from outfits.

Like shapes. Or mesh bodies. Or hair. Etc.

So it was just clothes and accessories.

I really wish Firestorm hadn't refused the "VRAM Jelly Doll" feature they were offered. You only really need to derender avatars with excessive texture memory (say, over 130MB) to get a massive framerate improvement in almost every sim.

After a bad crash last week, my viewer settings got all messed up. After asking for help on various things in the support group, I realized that every time, someone would say "in Preferences, in the search bar at the top, type in.....". I hadn't realized you could just look for the setting you needed to change by doing that.

It took me a while to try the command line commands you can just type in chat....

"dd 123" changes draw distance
"flr" - TP's you to the ground
"gth 123" - TP's you to a certain height

"rezplat 20" rezzes a platform - I took ages to use this but it's a favourite when I'm in sandboxes

Oh and it took me a while to find, but my favourite debug setting - RenderAvatarComplexityLimit. In Singularity I have it set to 20k and it just hides complex avis entirely. You just see their name hovering. It makes shopping and exploring a lot less laggy

"state" keyword in LSL scripts. Turned my nose up at it for a long while and made all my scripts a single state systems. Lately I've been using it much more to organize modes explicitly.

Would still be nice to have global events though that apply to every state, instead of making a ton of wrappers.

At first I'm sure I overused it, then caught myself doing it and went to more single-state designs. Now I'm somewhere in the middle, hopefully a little more sensible about using them when they are the right solution and leaving 'em alone when they aren't.

Yeh, I think a few of my scripts could be simpler without states too. But they're super useful for smaller scripts.

I only recently discovered that I could right click a LM in inv and copy the SLURL. Only took me almost 11 years...

That trick works from the "favorites" bar in Firestorm too, if you have that set up.

Also, at the login screen you can (usually) pick out any of the LM's that are in your favorites folder to use as a login point.

Landmarks are surprisingly versatile...

Is this the same as Firestorm's 'Max Complexity' slider, which turns folks into jelly dolls over the limit? For me, this isn't as effective as turning avatar rendering off, (which also turns off yourself OH NOES), or the less drastic FS "Show Friends Only" menu item. I still end up downloading quite a lot stuff for each jelly doll, but not for avatars who simply aren't rendered. So if you're network-constrained, turning off rendering is better. If you're graphics-card-constrained, the jellydoll thang will help quite a bit.

I still make all my outfits by hand. I have quite a few accessories, hairs, etc. that use texture huds, so I make copies of the item for an outfit, in the right color/texture, then remove the scripts.

Also, it allows me to have one outfit that is the naked (Maitreya) avatar (a few of these outfits with different skins, actually). Then to get dressed, I "add" an outfit folder. I may have to remove physics or spare feet, but otherwise it works well for me. And I get to use different skins with my outfits. If the outfit has parts that are applied, I just dump a copy of the applier into the folder. I also have a 'test' naked outfit, that I use if I just want to put on a fantasy skin or tint my skin oddly for a costume that I'm only wearing once.

This was me using Singularity and it doesn't have jellydolls (that I know of) so I looked in debug to see if I could get something similar and found that setting. I haven't looked for it in other TPVs. It literally de-renders avis entirely - I just see their name. It doesn't de-render my avi which is handy, just other people.

I really just wanted to avoid rendering less efficient avis and have my PC focus on other stuff when I was exploring/taking pics; but it gave me a fair speed boost even on my fairly smexy desktop, so I use it all the time.

I seem to recall that Emerald had these chat commands. In fact, they started that. They were really handy, too.

I use outfits. But when I load an old one, I usually find I have to take as much time editing it due to different skin, hairbase, makeup choices, body alphas, foot shape, changed shoe coloring, clothing fatpack changes, hair fatpack changes, etc from when I saved it as it would take to just build a new outfit.

Remember that you can put chat commands into gestures, and associate a keyboard key or combination with them...
I have the Groundlevel-teleport, the teleport-to-Camera-position and a few more bound to different keys through gestures.

I had one look at the wiki for this and gave up...good to know it's not as hard as it looks.
