Believe it or not, things like Bento and Animesh are NOT Firestorm features. LL made them. They really deserve credit, they've been doing wonderful viewer work lately.

TPV's just update their codebases and take all the credit in the back of people's minds.

TPV's code modifications are the colored dye on M&M's. LL makes the chocolate. They're all the same on the inside.

Gotta give them some credit for wrapping the chocolate in candy instead of chalk and ground glass.

Summer, you're right.

I hadn't recalled this, is this a feature of later FS builds (or LL viewer too?)?

Are you using the 32-bit viewer? It has limited texture memory compared to the 64 bit one, and when faced with capped out memory, it starts downsizing textures to make room.

Nope, 64 bit, 16GB RAM on system

I'm on 64-bit as well with 16GB and a 980ti. I don't think memory is the problem. It's a hard issue to track as it only happens sporadically.

Speaking of sporadic bugs, anybody remember the bug where your avatar would randomly double over and shove your head up your ass?

That one was really weird. I never did find out what that was about.

Some developer had a fetish and thought it would be funny.

I don't recall that happening unless you were up int he air like 2 million meters. Then your eyes would bug out of your head as well.

I do recall the bug where you would teleport and find one of your shoes shoved into your rear end.

Nah, this one was session based. Your av would just randomly double over completely so your whole upper torso ended up between your legs upside down, but relogging would fix it. I've had it happen only twice during my ten years on SL, and I've been online like every single day during that, which should give some indication of how rare it is.

Yeh, it's like the "spine" bone disappeared and your neck got attached directly to the pelvis, with the mesh crumpling up between.

Not the same bug, but I do remember the spaghettification at high altitudes, yeah. When making orbiters, the goal was always "throw 'em so high they break apart"

Yup and the one where your hair and shoes would be shoved up your ass. It still happens on rare occasions. I don't think they ever really fixed it. Just slapped a patch on it and called it good.

It can still happen if you use a built in TPV AO, and also disable your lookat, which opens the way to have some bones be animationless at moments (not even default underlying stuff like breathing or torso lookat) while other bones DO have animations, causing the skeleton to partically collapse.

I think that was caused by losing the attachment info, so it attached to the "center of motion" attachment point which was at the time the pelvis. That's the same as when you got your hair attached to your butt, because for default human avatars hair and shoes were the most common attachments. Furries got a lot more variety of misplaced body parts.

oh, not just furries, Argent. I once saw a guy walking around in a Phil av with a dick on his forehead... whether that was a bug or an intentional statement I was never quite sure...

I've not seen this happen in a couple of years but recently, like in the last month, I've seen a handful of avatars doing the torso spin. Ages ago I experienced it myself despite not using and never have used a TPV AO.

Yeah. Bento has caused a good bit of old animation bugs to return, does not suprise me.

Just to clarify, when you have four hooves, head, glasses, hair, lower arm and leg "fluff". and mane and tail up your butt it's a bit crowded down there.
