Angry What is your choice about your first job?

One was a high paying job, the other is what you are interested in. What is your choice. I'm going to find a job. Of course, this is my first job. So I really hesitate about that. And looking for some advice.
Maybe you could tell me what is your choice and why.

Only you can really answer that. How much is the difference in money? How much would you hate the high paying job? Personally I had a job for decades that I loved even though I could have made considerably more somewhere else because the extra money was less important than spending my life going to work somewhere I hate.

Don't know if it answers your question but...

I left a job I loved that was a lot of fun to be a cog for a soulless corporation for 3x the pay plus benefits. It's effectively in the same field though.

The better paying job is boring and sometimes I feel like I am becoming stupider by the day from sitting around doing nothing some days but the pay and benefits definitely make everything else less stressful.

Neither job is really related to what I have a degree in, they are both only sort of related to my interests and hobbies, mostly because it's a technical field and I like technology.

For me I would take a job I'm interested in if it pays the bills.

They say find a job you love and you will never work a day in your life.

Which job will feed you in other ways than money?consider the connections you will make, the ease of getting to work, how you will be able to frame (justify) the "fun" job on your resume in the future. Who knows, the fun job might open doors you never imagined.

Do what you love to do. Otherwise, you will be miserable.

Also, if you don't make your first job in the field of your preference, you may never be able to work in that field as you will be passed over for those who have experience in that field. And make damn sure you stay on top of all developments in your chosen field, lest you get left behind. I know it isn't always financially feasible but if you don't at least try, you will end up in my predicament, working shit jobs for low pay.

I have turned down the chance to go make more at other companies. I really like the company I am at now. I love the culture and the growth of it, so I guess that is my choice. That said, the difference in salary isn't that great.

Generally speaking, more exciting, complicated jobs also pay better because it requires a higher skill set. So the situation where I've had to make this choice has more to do with new companies offering sign on pay bumps, even if I think I will hate that company.

Fun Facts 'bout Tigars #8. When several tigers are present at a kill, the males will often wait for females and cubs to eat first, unlike lions, which do the opposite. Tigers rarely argue or fight over a kill and simply wait turns.

Thank you for your reply. I have decided to do what I like. I just want to try something I'm really interested in. Maybe I can't do it perfectly. But I'm sure I will not regret in the future.

Imagine the following job:

windows + linux system admin, doing what we in the know commonly refer as "PFY tasks" (replacing toner cadridges etc).
Pay: 2500€
Requirements: DOCTORATE in CS, Yes, a fucking PHD in computer science, for a PFY.

My initial response was "2500, that is per week after taxes, right?"
They said "no, per month before tax"
I said "please delete my CV and contact information. Bye."

It depends on the jobs - what would potential responsibilities be, can you advance in it, what sort of benefits they get you, how far away is it, how much would you be taxed and what sort of pension scheme (of any) does it have. If the higher paying one wins - consider one day moving to the loved sector and think if this position will get you any breakthrough. If the more liked one is chosen - maybe you can also climb up and specialise?

I would chose the thing I loved as ... no one would offer me above minimum wage thus problem solved .

If we're people who take time to talk to bots, where does that put the person who takes time to tell people who take time to talk to bots that they're talking to a bot?

Oh, maybe I'm an advanced robot. I clicked on emote buttons for you. Lol.
Why do you think I'm a bot? Because I don't have an avatar? To be honest, I joined the forum not for a long time and I've tried uploading a picture as an avatar but it didn't work...

Casey should be along soon to help you with that.

At least, I think it's Casey that usually does it...

In any case, someone will be along in a moment that can help.

But you should at least know that there is an avatar and then there is the profile pic. So between those two I think you'll figure it out.

Maybe a SL "job"? They do supposedly exist. My response would be sure, if you don't mind working for 5 cents an hour.
