Why do you guys think there are little to no furries in SL promotional materials?

Do you guys think it's because the majority of SL's userbase and potential customers are not into furries, or that LL doesn't want SL to be publicly associated with the fandom in general? I'm not complaining or anything, I'm sure LL have done their researches before spewing out bucks for advertisement and branding and that they are doing it in the best interest of SL, just makes me a bit eh because I know a substantial portion of the userbase is into furries, and the moment I showed some screenshots to online furry communities, they got instantly interested in SL ;c

I'm talking about their online targeted ads, and now the forum's new banner (which includes only humans), marketplace's featured images (which never showed any furry for as far as I know), and the exclusion of furry starter avatars during new user registration process.

You mean like maybe SL should have mascots?

Maybe they are worried about a load of furries all rushing in at once.

It's not an assosiation they need if they want to attract people.

They don't need to pander or sell SL to furries, we all already know about it.

It's safe to say there's no shortage of furriness within SL, and LL. ^_^

Still, an official Zootopia nod from within SL might not be terribly timed, if I were any kind of advertising executive..

I kinda don't think much of the common negative association would be there if they put a furry or two somewhere in promotional materials. The thing about RL furries that shoves most people away I think is that how awkward people in fursuit look to most people, not to mention some are pretty pushy about wanting fursuiting to be accepted as a normal thing to do. I just think most furries in SL look more "socially acceptable" in term of appearance since they are more "animal people" rather than "people in a fursuit" (ex: Khajiit in TES series, Zootopia furries, etc).

I just think the more people in SL because it appeals to them the better, as long as the appeal is not something that's universally seen as a bad thing, but eh idk

As a non-furry, I have to agree with this. Iam respectful in both "worlds", but it'sway easierfor my mind tosee a furry in SL and think of them as exactly what they are, whereas in RL it takessome effort nottosee a furry asjust some guy/girl wearing a costume.

I would like to know specifically what you would suggest. how would LL make a good advertising campaign promoting furries? How do you envision the ad?

Would probably help if it had sort of an anti-PETA vibe.

It's pretty simple. Show a few people in high quality furry avatars - a Kemono, something from Kinzart or DSD, one of the Blue Galaxy Solarians - dressed in fashionable mesh clothing and doing activities.

Most of SL's advertising centers on how it's a social experience. Pictures of people on a beach or couples getting to know each other. It would be basically the same, but with anthropomorphic animals.

What Blaise said basically. Maybe also an ad where they are building / creating things, shopping, alongside humans even? And I'm not specifically talking about ads like I said earlier, furries are basically nonexistent in recent SL's official videos / starter avatars, or anywhere else in SL's official promotional outlets.

one of my first looks was a robot back when I first joined SL. A robot did appear in some of the new SL videos promoting Horizons, btw (

Most furries, the vast majority, don't have costumes. They don't look different from anyone else in RL. The ones who do cosplay are called "fursuiters".

I think we used to see more varied characters in the SL advertising! It has become very 'human'
