HUDDLES EZ Disappears

I had a HUDDLES EZ Deluxe AO disappear from inventory when I attached another AO (inadvertently) to the same location. I have filed a support ticket, and went hunting on the JIRA to see if this is some kind of bug. It is, VWR 6110. Apparently the problem occurs when you have no copy anims in the HUD. The monetary loss with mine was small, since most of my anims are copy, but beware, this has happened to a number of people. I have noticed the replacement does not appear in inventory either until I right click it and presto, there it is in Objects.

I've never needed transfer/no-copy on an anim.

I don't even think I've seen a transfer/no copy animation either. Most of them tend to have no perms which is just rude.

I have a Huddles packed with Vista animations, all of which are no copy/trans. I bought these long before I understood the implications of that choice and before wearing a Huddles became such a risky venture.

If I lose the one I've got, I'm not replacing from Vista. From this point on, only animators who provide copiable anims will be on my shopping list.

Well, I still have no-copy anis in mine. Call me an idiot. At least now I know the risk. And I'm more careful with it. I don't let other HUDs attach themself wherever they want, thus risking knocking the Huddles out of place and losing it. And I only rez it on my own land when the grid is behaving itself fairly well.

It's just... well... I demand the best! And none of my favorite anis have copy perms. :argh:

Anyone recommend any Sine Wave quality dance animation producers that are no-transfer/copy?

As far as I know, the only people doing motion capping are Sine Wave and Animazoo, and neither of them do copyable dances.

I'd love for someone to correct me, though.

Sine Wave has a website that tracks your purchases now, so they can replace anything you lose. Just grab one of their free AOs and wear to get the link. It should pick up past purchases too, but only did a few for me...you can add them to the site by hand, but I'm not sure they'll replace in that circumstance. I'm going to try loading them into the Sine Wave AO at some point and see if that makes a difference, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

seems like a pretty overblown system to set up and maintain to simply keep anis no copy.
seriously, what is the advantage to selling ao anis no copy?

$

Most dance makers seem to do this for some reason, basically permitting only one usage of an animation rezzed at a time per purchase. It's rather frustrating to have to buy two copies of the exact same dance (one for a club dance ball, one for my personal collection).

Not entirely true. depending on the priority on the animation, you can play a couple at a time, as far as I know. I used to be able to 1) sit on a spinning object 2) use a low priority spinwheel animation to give the illusion of floating/spinning 3) play certain animations on top of that. Don't ask why - it doesn't really make sense unless you see it... and even then...

And the whole complaint about having to buy multiples? Well, I buy animations for my dance ball, but i can't always take that with me, say if i go to another club. It's annoying to have to move animations from object to object just because they're no copy.

I can't think of any advantage in making the anims no copy/trans. Almost all of the anims I had were copy/no trans, the only exception were some my child avatar uses for walking from Karsten. The replacement cost was small, but I did not appreciate spending the time making a duplicate, that then started acting up. Fortunately the Lindens dumped them in a folder that is behaving itself and I have a duplicate.

The only thing I can think of that would make sense for no copy/trans on dances is that it prevents you from having 6 dance balls in different places with the same dances, but for other anims it doesn't make a whole lot of sense

Once you sign up, it updates automatically. I won't speculate on their reasons for no copy anims. *shrug*

I agree. My answer still stands though... $.

What makes it worse is in most cases where I have bought no-copy animations, there has been absolutely no signage stating the perms on the anim.

I have talked to Easy from Sine Wave several times about offering copyable versions of his dances. He never budged. I talked to Dave from Animazoo once, he replied, "I think you are right." His dances are now copyable.

Also, it should be noted that the bug discussed in that jira issue happens most often after someone wears their hud directly from the ground. Please help me spread the word that wearing huds directly from the ground is dangerous. You should Take huds and other attachments when they are sitting on the ground, and only wear them from your inventory.
