Dave is quite the gentleman, and I think he really wants to provide the best experience for all of his customers. He's always open to suggestion and input and that's so refreshing. Whenever I can, I buy from him instead of Easy. I just can't stand no copy stuff when it comes to animations.. I'm never going to pass it on and I can only lose them and my money with them.

But Easy's hopper is admittedly one of the most awesome things ever to be made in SL

This explains why I've lost two AOs! My current one I carefully filled with copyable animations so that I could keep a back-up, but it annoys me that I lost animations I liked and I can't remember where I got them in the first place.

Maybe it's to stop club owners rezzing out a dozen copies of a dance? Like how some people make houses no-copy so that rental people can't fill a sim with them?

Vista switched over to copy/no transfer some months ago, maybe ask about a trade?

Interesting - a friend of mine lost her Amethyst collar the same way, by attaching something accidentally in the same spot. So it happens to non-HUD items as well.

Thanks for the information. I stopped shopping there because of the NoCopy perms, so wasn't aware of the change of policy.

Oh, and I forgot to mention. If you have lost items in this way, they are likely recoverable. You need to get some support from a Linden to do it, which is sometimes a pain. But more and more of the Customer Service people I'm dealing with do know what to do.

I agree. I would like to see animations intended for use in an AO, or for solo dancing, always sold with copy permissions.

However, I think there is a legitimate reason to sell transfer/no-copy animations when used in pose ball sets and furniture. Take Craig's slow dance animations as an example. These are rezzed in a home or a club and left for others to use. They are relatively inexpensive, so buying a couple for a club is pretty affordable considering the usage. If Craig were to sell his animations with copy permissions people could fill a sim with these things all from a single purchase, or rez them at a friend's home or club.

I had a tough choice to make with my own product. For the first year I sold it with transfer/no-copy permissions. I liked these permissions. Transfer perms made gifting easy for my customers. And no-copy perms kept people from rezzing one for a friend, or a landlord from rezzing a dozen - one in each home on a sim. However, so many people were losing their pianos due to server glitches that I eventually had to move to no-transfer/copy permissions. This has worked out very well for me, and made automatic updates possible. I think I probably make up for the lack of multiple sales to a single person with the peace of mind that a copyable item gives my customers.

Excellent news! Thank you!

I'm going to see about exchanging my no-copy dances next time I'm inworld! (Dave commented on Keiki's blog that you could contact the CS bot Shopkeeper Sideways for updates.)

Making anims no copy is greed.

That's all I have to say. I won't buy non copyable things

This is not necessarily the case. Some items may contain anims and be designed to be transferable. In which case they must be no-copy.

I disagree.

Now, I am with you when we are talking about solo animations and poses that are only really appropriate in an AO and could only reasonably be used by one person - the owner. Making them no-copy just makes them difficult to use, and risky.

Beyond this though, what makes an animation different from any other product in Second Life? Why must a couple's ball room dance be copyable? You think I should be able to rezz three dances in my club, one in my home, and one at my friends house? Would it be fair if an animator charged a little bit more for a copyable version of their couples animations?

I applaud creators that sell their items with copy permissions. My pianos are copyable. I take the risk that people will rezz multiple pianos, in the hope that this is balanced out by making more customers happy.

But to suggest that anybody that sells an animation without copy perms is just greedy isn't fair in my opinion.
