No one here is attacking slender women. Although, I would like to point out that from a medical point of view it's unhealthy to fall bellow a BMI of 19/18.5 (information seems to vary here). The vast majority of the population has a BMI of over 19/18.5, this does not make them unhealthy (in fact up until... BMI 25 they are theoretically more healthy than someone with a BMI of under 18.5.)

My Mood: | You can always take heart in the fact that a majority of us guys have no patience with the ultra thin ideal of the "fashionista" world. Our preferences have generally not "progressed" since the 1950's, and I doubt they ever will, the preferred ideal being a classic cello. "Pro-ana", now what's that? Never heard about it. |

One side issue of this discussion is how some people out there ridicule everybody who doesn't meet the beauty ideal even remotely, which is just plain stupid and shallow-minded. Said beauty ideal seems to come mostly from fashion models (who tend to be females which are way above average height, while going towards a relatively low weight, so yes..it is 'unrealistic' to strive for those proportions. You can't just make yourself suddenly grow), hollywood superstars, models for cosmetics and musicstars. All in all people with a truckload of surgeons, fashion designers and/or make-up artists behind them. I think it's rediculous to expect anybody to strive for that. But the big issue here are groups like those pro-ana groups that -promote- unhealthy abuse of the body while completely disregarding or even denying the health issues. They abuse the psyche of the anorexic girls which in reality for the most part hate their body, their illness, and know darn well just what is happening to them...by telling them they are beautiful, that everybody else is fat, and that they should -live out- and support their illness.

My Mood: SLShopper Ads: 13 SL Join Date: 11/17/2006 | "galinha" (chicken) is slang for promiscous[sp?] women, but it still doesn't make a lot of sense. the term is not used when "talking dirty", we usually say that when gossipping about someone. "ela é uma galinha" = "she's a slut" or something. |

when people are so desperate for attention (like guy herself seems to be), we tell them to "go hang a watermelon on their neck". like, a real watermelon as a pendant on a necklace, can you picture? that would certainly call a lot of attention...

My Mood: | Im happy to admit that im recoving from an eating disorder so anyone shooting down my piont take that into consderation b/e i will rip the shit out of you for negativity. ******************** Pro ana site RL or SL are eqauly disturbing now i cant work out if this group is a joke, role playing or real. Ether way its in very poor taste. Anorexicia kills piont Encoraging it i would eveyone go as far to say its aiding death. The concept of anorexcia variose from person to person more often that not its related to self loathing or some sort. If guy really does have a problem we need to make he or she realise she needs to deal with it not in SL and not be encoraging others to jion. And frankly if this is a joke or role play she still have a problem. Anorexia destroys lives family and so on. The media isnt totaly to blame but it does play a part. I think the spanish and italian disiccion to not have really tiny models is a step in the right deriction and i know there are some models out there who are natural that size but not all. Unfortunaly its not and industry thats not going to change but a teeny weeny bit of info Catwalk industry rack size is a UK 10/big 8 (i think thats a US 2?) you have to remeber that in relation to the hieght of these models (im not saying ti healthy but youd be suprised i think to see the garments offten) When you actuly think about why the fashion industry want skinny girls its really funny. There are such a large proption of gay men in the industry and that causes a boyish figure to become more ideal. So really were a bunch of woman after out GBF's as ever ramble and rant over marni |

We went as far as to flesh out her avatar. The way you see your avatar DEFINITELY affects how you see yourself, roleplaying or no. |

My Mood: SLShopper Ads: 13 SL Join Date: 11/17/2006 | ... and what about the last ANTM where the winner was a "plus size model"? i've read about it on jezebel.com (i don't own a tv, and anyway the last season havn't arrived here in br yet), and immediately began searching for pictures of her on google. what i saw was a pretty, average size girl, maybe actually below average, far from "plus size". "well, maybe it's photoshop, or just the right camera angle", i thought. then i found her wikipedia entry. i mean, WHERE IN THE FUCKING WORLD a size 10 is a "plus size"?? O.o |

This whole thing in SL is sad but I guess SL will always be a reflection of RL, including these sorts of issues and disorders and people reinforcing that behavior. If it happens on the net it will be in SL. On a purely SL related note, it is very difficult to make your avatar look correctly proportioned with more body fat, God the mesh sucks. My avatar is actually thinner than I want her to be because when I add more body fat the arms start to look distorted. This wasn't something I really noticed before, until I started living on an alt who wears much less.... clothing than Io, heh. Io is heavier but she doesn't run around in silks, either.

I need no steenkin status
| I don't even know what to say to this. It's incredibly Lemming Like. A bunch of bobble heads propped up on stick figures. Letting some random person you don't even know influence your shape in real life or in sl is beyond lame. |

The trick to using the mesh, in almost all cases, is to attack the problem on multiple fronts. The body fat slider in itself is indeed too course and distorts the mesh quickly. Now, a little body fat, while shortening the torso and legs a little, giving the love handles a little push, and *shortening* the hips (to make the belly slider fill out the lower part a little more naturally)... eventually, you get there.

| Still doesn't help the distortions in the arms, scrim. It drove me nuts and I just gave up because my arms are exposed most of the time. I can't up the muscle sliders much more, either, without starting to look like a body builder, which really doesn't suit Esma the Pleasure Slave, lol. |

| I agree that it's hard to do. What I've found is, *in general*, shape designers that try to create "BBW" shapes (for lack of a better word, as I've never really personally classified myself as BBW) to sell, make crap. People who make their plus-size shapes that they are going to live in, do so with love and care, and are willing to take the extra time to make it realistic and as appealing as we can.

Check this shit out. iWANEX STUDIO - Professional Photo Retouching Services Click "Portfolio" and then click an image. When you mouse over it, you'll get to see the original. Click the image to close and pick another. I saw the pic of Carrie Underwood - DISGUSTING! They took a normal sized girl, and reduced her all over! How pathetic?! She looks FINE! |

Business: Illusions: Masks and Unique Accessories | I noticed they actually fattened up a couple girls, I think it was Eva Longoria that got curvied up a bit too (although they did reduce her waist, they gave her more arm mass and hips). Yeah, it seems there is a general vendetta against frecklage.

Check out Beyonce though. She has a roll of skin - just SKIN! - and they took it out completely. They also slimmed down her uber-muscular legs.
