Yeah no idea what is going on at LL atm, my other sims have been taken down too. I've never sold anything remotely adult so idk. If this is LL trying to clean SL before SL2, they're not gonna make any money.

They're probably betting everything on that sweet corporate cash, commoners like you and me be damned.

Except even the corporations still need to rely on those commoners to consider LL/SL profitable, so I'm really not seeing how this is supposed to work.

In this case, and the case of Outrun which apparently is also offline, they're probably trying to purge everyone considered "undesireable", and that goes for the griefers and trolls too.

This bannination isn't like the others, especially the regions taken offline part. It's probably not related at all to the marketplace fiasco.

Insilico is kind of one of those places you show non-SL people, and they're suddenly very interested in SL. This is really a dumb move by LL on so many levels.

The real crime is that I never went there after I got a new graphics card last year.

You better visit if and when it comes back. I try to visit at least once every 60 days. I don't leave my place too often.

It's a bit unusual to take down the sims on a ban isn't it... it's not like there is anything particularly salacious at Insilico... or wasn't last I wandered about there. What the heck is going on this week in San Francisco?

Someone said elsewhere about the purge:

"What I know for sure about this mass banning is that a lot of dog fucking places are being closed and also a bunch of pedos banned."

Isn't skills hak the creator / maintainer of a copybot viewer?

No she isn't - This often comes up and I think people confuse Skills with Phox at times

Skills has been involved in Viewer Development and was part of the Emerald team and has even contributed to the Linden Viewer and is the developer of the CDS system . But as far as I know she has nothing to do with any copybot viewer

I really don't see how "cleaning" SL is going to affect Sansar at all. The corporate interests have all vut forgotten SL is a thing I think.

Hmmmm, we have a new product on the horizon and we want to remind everyone what a special experience doing business with Linden Lab is. How can we remind them what its really all about? Hmmm hmmm hmmmm.

Yes and No. The video game industry is in one HELL of a case of flux right now (especially AAA gaming), and a lot of that venture capital money is leaking away from "Video Game" Games and heading out to the VR Headset world.

Companies aren't interested in using SL as a platform, but they sure as hell want in on this VR Headset Goldrush.

I don't see it... VR is still super expensive, requires a powerful enough computer and a decent streaming internet connection which are controlled by monopolies and we have wages barely able to keep us float on. Yet we keep stretching into the stars.. i still feel this is all gonna collapse cause we are not ready yet but they insist and drag us anyways.

Not sure if this is related, but Aemeth Lysette, the person who claims responsibility for the bans of other creators seems to be still on a witch hunt against me on their private SJW plurk:

I'm obviously not Simone Linden and i was there when my friend bought that gatcha, there's nothing wrong with that item. Aemeth has been writing petty hate blogs about me and sending around notecards even years after she was kicked out of Insilico, for obvious reasons. She has been nothing but poison to the community, was voted off the island and has had this weird stalker grudge against me since, even though i only interacted with her once or twice. I know certain people like Aemeth like bringing this up but i have nothing to do with "ripped content", i don't sell anything remotely adult either.. sooo not sure what is going on. It's hard to believe LL or one of their contractors would disable my account based on some weird abuse report party though, i assume it must have been something else and i am going to find out when i escalate this.

It's not exactly a smart move by LL considering this would kill several popular communities, one of wich is the 6000 member strong Insilico group and i have generated well over $150k USD for LL in tier alone over the years.

And THIS is why the smart bet isn't on VR, but on indies. From the buoying of the industry after the Pong Clone crash by the growth of the Arcade industry, to the rapid growth of the home computer game scene during the 1983 crash, video games are a medium with massive consumer shift whenever the Big Guys are fucking it up.

This shift also tends to go to affordability as well. A quarter at the arcade is way cheaper than another Damned Pong clone TV Game system, and a Speccy had a far cheaper library than the 2600.

Comics, Movies, and TV are affected FAR differently by changes in the economy than video games, and it's probably because of how directly the medium's tied to technology.

getting off topic... this conversation can easily get it's own thread wouldn't be surprised if this does start a new growth of Independent virtual worlds tho..

Has anyone started firing back questioning ebbe linden on his twitter or poking lindens external accounts yet? Anything outside of customer support? right now it's just looks like everyone is running around in circles as they set buildings on fire.
