erm, I thought Io said she wasn't buddies with Ten? And hasn't met her inworld? I am confused here.

I mean, by that logic I should be buddies with her too, but I'm not. I have never met her inworld, Tenshi is not on my friends list. She's in some groups I am in, that's all.

Seriously, what Tenshi does is what Matt Drudge and Michael Moore do. She's a yellow journalist-style blogger. She's not always right, just like Drudge and Moore are not always right.

If you take it as entertainment and to be looked at sceptically, examining the facts, then you'll find that they all are often right, and sometimes really wrong. But the whole idea is to drive traffic and cause controversy.

Now, you may not want to hear this but, the attention to wrong situations actually can backfire and act as advertisement for you. I suspect that Paper Couture very likely benefitted from the publicity.

You know what, Minnu probably could have too, if her followers hadn't acted like such tools - but simply admitted they used it. Using the texture is not theft, provided they thought they had rights under the terms of the license. (and its not a far stretch to argue that)

So all Tenshi definitively established for me is that Danae's texture was used in Minnu's product. Using a texture in a texture bake meant for rendering != theft of the texture, provided the texture was bought.

I think its too late now to claim a misunderstanding. Look at what happened with Torrid Midnight for example. She immediately admitted having ripped and used Lost's textures for her own use. Most people supported her due to her frank honesty. I sure as hell respected her for it.

Minnu is no Torrid Midnight.

Are we supposed to simply forget the times over the past 2 years Tenshi has unfairly accused people of theft on her blog? Is it too much of a leap for you to see there might be some similarities between her prior acts and this?
Okay so you don't. You take everything everyone says at face value, regarless of their past. I'm slightly more dicerning and if that's how you operate, i think you are quite naive.

Well said, Io. I don't know that we can afford to be hands off. I just hope that when these kinds of things crop up that people will do their best to be objective. As an artist I have a vested interest in SL not becoming a place where content theft is tolerated, and that more than anything else is the side I'm on. At the same time, it is my sincere hope that SL can be a place, as much as it's possible, where competitors can't ruin each other through smear campaigns -that the community won't allow its hatred of thieves to be manipulated for selfish ends. I'm not saying that's the case here - just something I hope people will try to be mindful of.

Ingrid, I have the utmost respect for you as a creator and a person. I love your work. Love.

But, that said, you're derailing this thread with a personal vandetta that's downright creepy given the fact that you've been given an apology (and I don't have time to find it, but I remember it happening.)

This is a serious issue that, if it does go to court, will affect content creation and blogger's rights as we know them to be. This is yours and my work that can apparently be sacrificed to people with low morals and legal loopholes if it comes out in Minnu's favor. Can we focus on that for at least one more page, please?

I know Tenshi better than Io does.
I've known Ingrid longer than I have Tenshi, and talked far more to Ingrid.

By this backing friends regardless argument, my bias should lie with Ingrid, but I'm behind Tenshi for bringing this to the community's awareness.

Fifteen years ago Tenshi accused Ingrid and Paper Couture of stealing a runway design and claiming it as their own. She didn't know fashion designs can't be copywritten and made an apology for it. Everyone moved on except Ingrid, who's carried a grudge on this worse than an angry Irish man around the British.

Oops, I forgot one more point I was going to make.

There are some that say that they cant form an opinion because they are not 3d professionals. I am not either. However, when a RL jury is set on a trial and they're case involves say a muderer. Would the jury have to be murders in order to decide whether or not someone murdered someone else if they were given strong evidence to prove that? No, they wouldn't.

I dont have to be a master at poser or any other 3d program to compare apples to apples so I think thats a piss poor excuse some are trying to use in defense of Minnu.

We are all capable of making a sound judgement on what we were given and yes some will believe she's guilty simply because she's popular and they want her to fail, and some will believe she's innocent because they are her friends, employees, or not 3d experts but MOST will form their opinion based on what they see with their own two eyes.

So I have to disgree with everyone who says that the SL community as a whole is morally unjust. I just dont buy it.

Ingrid, I've always liked you and I started out on less than good terms with Tenshi but I've come to like her despite everything, lol. I like you both. I've said so multiple times. I don't' have either of you on my friends list and I don't take sides based on who I "like better".

I added Ten to my SLU MySpace silliness because, honestly, I thought she was being raked over the coals and no one had added her yet, heh. She looked all lonely there.

The closest I've gotten to Ten inworld is when she made out with Luc, rofl.

It would be nice if you could stop labelling everyone who agrees with her idiots or 'naive' whether we have sought the facts beyond her post or not.

It's the same issue Luc. The very same. Tenshi's lack of ethics when it comes to pronouncing people criminals. "Piracy", "theft", "copyright infringement" are all legal judgements that she carelessly throws around without any undeniable proof than anyone is actually guilty of any of it.
