The new release of vBulletin (3.7) has many of the same features - extended profiles, user photo galleries, friends lists, etc. It is a bit complex for me to upgrade, but I am going to do so sometime this week.

I ride to work with someone who listens to country (and yes, I have to cleanse myself with Beethoven or Tool afterward) and I hear a song "I'm So Much Cooler On Line" about these face book sites.

"I'm a sci-fi fanatic, a mild asthmatic,
but I'm so much cooler on line," etc.

And I worry -- what if I'm not even cool on line?

I don't recommend SLP at all. It was nothing but constant drama, backstabbing, people posting fake pics claiming that they are them, and people who love to have nothing better to do but go on profiles and talk shit and downrate peoples pics then act like your best friend afterwards. There was no sense of community at all there and I'm glad I got out when I did. I currently am on Second Life Society and it is a much nicer environment without all the people who act like 12 yr olds. But yeah, I wouldn't log into SLP again even if someone paid me too...*shudder*

Also, to follow up Zsu's post, what she says is true. For a while I followed the drama... using the sites own stats you could actually tell who was downrating everyone's pics. Some really disgusting an
