Verra interestin'.

If this is indeed Nintendo, I do hope that they approach an SL island in a smart way. There's a lot of potential for videogame professionals to squeeze out of SL. Much more so than I believe most people realize.

going to be following this story. would be interesting to play SL on the Wii. probably wouldn't be as good as a PC though. Still interesting even if its just a PR island.

I doubt they'll put SL on the Wii. I think it could be done, after a fashion, I just don't think it would be worth it for them or LL, whom they would need a lot of cooperation from. It wouldn't really be SL as we know it, since it would have to be entirely enclosed to work.

On the other hand, I do think SL makes an ideal platform for promoting videogames, and I can see why Nintendo, specifically, would take an interest in SL.

In what way does SL make an ideal platform for promoting videogames, or for promoting anything else for that matter? The number of eyeballs you can capture in SL is ridiculously low

Well, you're right, I shouldn't say "ideal", for exactly that reason. I suppose what I mean is "interesting". If SL, or something very much like it, caught on in a big way, then it might make a more "ideal" platform for videogame promotion. The thing is, you could, with enough effort, create some really interactive and immersive promotional and community areas. And for Nintendo especially, SL tends to appeal to non-traditional gamers Nintendo has been marketing towards lately.

I'm not convinced it's official. I don't think Linden Lab would interfere with island names until Nintendo filed a DMCA takedown about it. Until we get conclusive proof otherwise, I don't believe it's an official nintendo island

But then again, it may be a higher percentage of people who regularly play video games than in a random RL selection. Just a thought...I have no idea if its true or not but it seems entirely possible....
