| Oh me too. Love the sound of autocannons in the morning. Leesotho, Eve is totally worth it. If you give it a try, look me up if you need any help, name is Seven Reth. Last edited by Fade Languish; 03-29-2008 at 04:30 AM. |

| I'm literally one day away from the Hurri with the proper fits on my latest character. What I like about Eve is that the training happens offline. Be sure to grab EVEMon - Character Monitoring and Planning for EVE Online Some things any new player should know about Eve: 1. You WILL die. 2. You WILL lose ships. 3. PVP DOES happen in highsec. See 1. 4. Not using "warp to zero" to travel to the gates is essentially committing suicide, especially in lowsec. Autopilot dumps ships far away from the gates and manually flies them in, which makes the ship EXTREMELY vulnerable to attacks. Highsec isn't anarchy as implied, but so long as the player knows they could die in any situation and that they can emotionally handle it, they'll have a good time. Beeline training for hulls without properly fitting them is suicide, the newbcorps chat provide absolutely no sympathy to the month old newbies crying over their lost battleships. Personally, I'd recommend that the total cost of your most-used ships with all the fits should account for only a small part of your income. It really sucks if you pinch pennies to grab the absolute best fit you can afford, lose it the next day, and wind up back with cheap nub ships. If what you use is easily replaceable, you'll likely feel a lot better. Lots of other info: EVE Online | Player Guide Minmatar for life! The Rifter is awesome. It looks like a Vic Viper. |

| Yeah, you have to not care if you die, cos you will. I've spent the whole evening fitting a ship, transporting it to low sec to get carrier jumped to 0.0, jumpcloned to the station, undocked, only to be caught by a roaming nano gang within two minutes, and find myself waking up in a vat. It's all worth it for that first killmail. ![]() |

| I had to pick up a part in lowsec not long ago and I was literally saved by "warp to 0". It was kinda fun, the guy couldn't lock on to me in time warping out and hitting the gates. It's weird accidentally formation-warping with a total stranger.. just kind of pan around... ACK. |

Ever hit a bubble? That's a real wtf moment. Warp to zero, but arrive a long way from the gate, and all those reds you saw in local are now in your overview. Unless you're nanoed or in an intie, there's not much to do except watch your shields, armour and hull fill with red and wait for the podding. Good times. Then you learn to use a scout. | I registered one of those 14-day-accounts some time ago too, and I must say I really liked the entire setting of the game. Had a feeling somewhere amongst the lines of Elite to it, and I think I saw something "Duney" in there too. Character Setup was great too, but then I encountered what I refer to as the worst controls ever. I mean seriously the controlling of the ship is absolutely horrible. I didn't get along with that at all. And the Tutorial could use some work too...a pity, cause that one had some great potential. Well, maybe I'll give it a try again, somewhen... |

| Training does happen at a steady rate while logged in or out. It's the only MMO a friend of mine plays because he only has about a day or so off each week, yet he makes just as much progress. Maybe wouldn't have the same amount of ISK, but that's easily made anyway. It would be incredibly depressing waiting a year just to get into a destroyer. |

My Mood: | I lurve me some EVE. I'm still carebearing in highsec space, doing missions until I can get a ton of money (and train for battleship bits) Speaking of, what sort of guns should I be putting on the bigger Minmatar ships? I don't know where it differentiates between "medium" and "large" and "extra large". I'm in an arty Thrasher now (aka freight train with gills) I'm Dropkick Brannigan in EVE. Oh, newbie advice: Fuck mining. Mining is the most boring thing ever. Instead, save up and buy the salvaging skill, and pick up the equipment for that. Doing NPC rat runs you can make 1-2 million an hour, easy, compared to 300k/hr for newbie mining. |

My Mood: | This is the first MMO I've been able to play since Ultima Online that I'm actually engaged in somewhat with the community. That's a big step for me. It'd be nice if there were other people to play with that I knew, though. |
