Oh, I was telling you about how I adore Ritualists because they're so exotic. Here's Navara, she's wearing my own mix of armor pieces from everywhere. Rit's are only available in Factions, and I never play her, but damnit she's gorgeous I keep her around purely for eye candy these days. There are a ton of Guild Wars inspired things I want to make in SL, this sort of blindfold thing is one of them.

Pretty!

I'm looking at the Mesmers now. I think they're my favorite so far, visually.

And, however stupid my armor may be, I can console myself with the fact that it could be worse.

Assassins are so ridiculously spikey They don't even need daggers, they can just rub up against people

Mesmers are really unpractical in PvE.. if you made a Mesmer you'd definitely be playing her more for PvP. Their greatest strength is in interrupts and being a faster caster than all the others, which ends up being hard to use versus mobs.

Yeah, that's why I chose not to be one. I was tempted, but I did a little poking around the wiki and figured I should pick something easier to solo.

Soloing (as opposed to playing with friends or PUGS) becomes incredibly easy with the Elona campaign. That's the one where they introduced Heroes, which are customizable super henchies. They're basically NPC's with the same skills and abilities as players but you get to make them your own builds. You can even direct them to move places and be on different alert levels. Henchmen have half the number of skills you do, and can do stupid things to aggro guys. So, going at it alone is a pain in the ass for Factions and Prophecies, especially when you're doing harder areas or missions.

Have I mentioned how happy I am that you're going to get it?

By the way everyone, don't forget to redeem your free storage pane at the Xunlai Agent, I just did and I was able to completely empty a mule

I got it! I bought the trilogy because I know myself: I'd wind up buying all three anyway, so might as well get a discount.

So... what's the policy on posting the occasional scenic screenshot? I have large amounts of pretty burning a hole in my hard drive.

Okay, not an official policy, but I don't want to go sticking a big post of images in the thread if people are going to be bothered by it.

No, but if they're giganticus you might want to shrink them, or upload them to flickr and link.

But no requirement.

Nah, I wouldn't have put in giant images anyway. I may be overly fond of double posts, ninja edits, and tedious whining about Blender, but I have some manners.

I love these ruined statues.

I also enjoy rays of light.

Oops, that was more than a few.

Something tells me Miriel is putting major points through to getting her Explorer title

So happy I could share it with you, I have some places to show you too! Did you see the statue fall in the Arid Sea and climb the cliff?

I climbed the cliff! (Did the quest there, too.) I actually didn't see the statue fall. My attention was elsewhere at the time, so then I spent several minutes wondering where the giant statue went. I'll have to go back later and see it. I'm still in the Crystal Desert right now, so it's not far -- those missions are hard!

Have you seen the hidden area with the yak in lowbie Ascalon?

Probably, I have 97% of Tyria explored, and if I haven't you have to show me so I can get another bit of fog removed! Ohhhhh man you are going to love the other campaigns... and EotN!

If you need help with Glint (when you get to her) let me know and I can round up a posse

Edit: oh, yes, and you'll start needing those capture signets once you start doing the Crystal Desert missions. There are boss monsters with elite skills that are unattainable except through capture signets.

It's in pre, so it doesn't count for your title. But it's pretty! (I made a Mesmer in pre, to run around enjoying the scenery, wear pretty clothing, and hunt obsessively for dye.)

Aiee, they get harder?

I've only got Thirsty River left, of the three initial desert missions. Part of the problem is that my build isn't really meant for it. I can't build up a good minion army, and though I've switched to a curses based build for the missions, I'm not sure it's all that effective. The other problem is that the henchmen seem to be particularly stupid on this mission. I swear, this one time Little Thorn was right next to a target I'd called and was attacking, and he just stood there for several moments, checking out the wall.

Yeah, I'm starting to consider which elite skills I want to grab. Can't you only have one active at a time?

Guild Wars can be such a beautiful game to just wander around in. I totally stopped playing because it was just too much of a distraction.

And mesmers rock!

Eugh, yes, the henchmen can be particularly stupid, especially if they get stuck. You might need to go out of hermit mode and actually join a group, or if you want to call in the reserves I have an army of heroes and a bunch of lvl 20's I can get you through it with Just say the word and I'll happily procrastinate desperately avoiding my work.

You can only have one active at a time, but you can collect as many as you have the gold for. Our monk has literally all the elite skills in the game, there's a lot of freedom to be able to switch in and out elites based on the needs of a mission. There are also some elites that are just down right vital for a profession. In your case, we seriously need to get you a Flesh Golem, the elite minion skill.

Argh!

I've been trying the Thirsty River mission again -- that's the one where the enemies keep getting resurrected unless you take down the priest -- and I'm about ready to kill my henchmen myself. I attack the priest. I call my attack. I even get my tanks to rush over to me, near the priest... and during the fight, they keep getting bored or something, because they periodically stop fighting and just stand there. I think they're actually getting distracted by the remaining scuffles going on outside the little area the priest is in, or by the boss, or maybe they're just having really horrible pathing problems, but they shouldn't be doing any of those things.

Guild Wars is such a great game and definitely beautiful too! The beauty of it was one of the many reasons I joined it when it first came out. It's good to see other people in SL like GW too!

Would anyone happen to have some skill/attribute templates they would be willing to share? I lost all of mine in a reformat and it has been far too long since I last played for me to remember how to best outfit my Heroes

Would anybody perhaps be interested in a casual SL-friendly guild type thing?

My character's certainly not outfitted to raise a proper guild with benefits, PvP or non, but it could be nice to have people to chat with while out bringing death and destruction to the Kournans
