NCSoft is saying that Guild Wars 2 should be coming out in the 2010-2011 time frame:

NCsoft released their financial numbers for their last quarter a couple of days ago but buried in their financial web site was a document that showed the planned release dates for a number of their upcoming games. The PDF document (encased in a ZIP file) showed the image of a table that has some bad news for people awaiting the release of Guild Wars 2.

The long awaited sequel to ArenaNet's multiplayer action-RPG game series is now listed in the table as being released sometime in the 2010-2011 time period. If the the table in the document is truly accurate (and it does come straight from the game's publisher) that could mean that even the game's beta test might not happen in 2009.

They changed the music for every zone too! And the little character has a unique set of animations (but no emotes )

Oh, and lol, no one wants to play with the bratty NPC Cynn Mhenlo and the cool kids don't like her, so I pointed and laughed at her



(in the full animation of their characters, Mhenlo looks at four of the other NPC's, like deciding who to play with. They all go "pick me!" and Cynn turns hopefully when Mhenlo doesn't pick anyone immediately. Mhenlo looks at Cynn and then does the gesture for no, then doubles over laughing, doing "no" again, and Cynn turns away in a big harumph and stomps her feet and pouts.)

I take back the no emotes thing, it looks like we can flute, point, and sit. I haven't found any others but I can't always remember every single one

It looks like the henchie shuffling is all over Eye of the North (sorry Vaelissa, and others that don't have it ). For pretty much every EOTN outpost they're in various states of relaxation or conversation, most of the time just playing random emotes at each other. Rata Sum is the only place where they actually do a tableau, or at least that I've seen.

That'd be really cool, Sobri! Me and my man are totally in for that, if we can coerce Khamudy into falling for our dastardly plans. I have a couple character slots open and my guy is ALWAYS up for a game through Elona (it's his fave campaign)

It's GW's fourth birthday today!! The boardwalk is open and there's rollerbeetle racing, but there's much more...

They now have a whole bunch of new features such as storage upgrades (omg more space!), "makeover credits" where you can change the appearance and even gender of your characters, and unlockable pets for pvp characters! There's more details here:

Siyu, this is all your fault. I just downloaded the free trial and made a character, and now I'm waiting for the five bazillion files to download.

20,000 files later, it's running. The opening cinematic was underwhelming, but I'll let that slide.

Siyu: Prophecies. My char's Miri Fala, necromancer. I was going to be clever and name myself Miri Elle, but somebody already took that. So I pulled something out of my butt.

And I disconnected after the cinematic ended so I could write a post. And when I logged back in, I'm now in a different spot and don't know where I am or what I'm supposed to be doing. Or, for that matter, how I'm supposed to it.

Oh, well, let me fill you in. Right now you're in a place called Ascalon, which is on the continent of Tyria. What you want to do first is go down the hill and talk to a guard by some very large gates, and he'll tell you roughly what to do. Basically what you'll be doing is going around and doing some very simple quests, and learning new skills (obviously) as you decide which secondary profession to use. Your secondary can be changed later in the game but you'll be stuck with it for the first half. Do you want me to come join you or would you like to find your feet a bit, first?

It might also be worth knowing that you're in a special area that no other higher levels can get into, because from my character's perspective, you're in the past. People call it "pre-" and I won't fill in the hyphen because it would spoil the story a little

Wow, Siyu wasn't kidding when she said this game was pretty. In the lowbie catacombs alone, I've come across half a dozen unexpected and beautiful locations -- and I've not even explored them thoroughly! It makes me want to make stuff for SL, right up until I remember how ridiculously frustrating it will turn out.

My only regret is that my outfit is stupid. Oh, well. At least it doesn't have spikes at this point.

If I didn't feel so out-of-place using female avatars I would so roll them in GW just for the superior armor modeling.

The armor really is beautiful. Even the silly spiky stuff.

Oh, oh! And I got new gloves as part of a collector quest, my first armor upgrade from my newbie armor. And I found some green dye, so now my outfit's all coordinated again. Plus I found a better staff, and it's green, too.

If you find any black dye, hold on to it. Same for white, it's very valuable and can't be taken off of armor once you dye it.

I just looked up the elementalist armor. While I actually really like a lot of the male outfits, this is quite possibly the most, um, flamboyant outfit I've ever seen in a video game.
