I'd be happy if the standard MMO pricing could drop from $15 a month to at least ten if not 7 or 8. I would be more inclined to give them more consoderation.

This Secret World looks neat but 60 upfront plus probably another 60 in monthly subscription to get anything out of it is a huge turn off.

So... is anyone still playing The Secret World? I'm plowing through the first Egypt zone at the moment. =)

since i bought the lifetime sub, i'm always still playing, i suppose..

i haven't been going further into the story though, because i am a wimp and don't like going into new harder areas "alone" for the first time. So i've been waiting for my friends to get un-busy with work so they'll come play with me again!

But even still, my character of course keeps progressing as far as skills and such, just from me playing over the quests that are technically lower level than me right now.

i'd come to Egypt with you, but we don't really know each other...and i play really slooow cause i like exploring games best (which makes some aspects of gw2 more fun to me right now - since there are more 'safe areas' to explore in gw2, than in tsw, it seems).

I'm glad that TSW (so far) doesn't penalize me for being a 'survivalist' (primarily a soloer). I tend to binge-complete... zooming around from spot to spot trying to do *all* the side quests. =)

Dungeons get a little spotty, but I seem to be doing well as a tank-type. All depends on what pick-up team I end up with. So far I haven't met anyone in TSW I know from anywhere else yet. =(

I am, of course 'Jopsy' in there. =)

I haven't cancelled my sub yet, but it doesn't look like it'll be much longer. GW2 is getting all of my game time now.

My sub is lapsed at the moment but I'll be back before too long. I was about half way through all the City of the Sun God quests when I got busy doing other things and decided to put it on hold.

I find it hard to justify a box purchase and a monthly subscription anymore. And in either case, GW2 has snagged me and is absorbing all of my gaming time.

I'm still playing and will be sub'd for the foreseeable future. I'm not a fan of the Guild Wars franchise (and have a working history with NCSoft that has left me disinclined to play their titles even if I were a fan of GW). More over, I'm still quite happy with TSW and its offerings thus far.

I was lured in by the 3 day trial, bought and subscribed right away. And I'm loving it. The story, the puzzles, the environment - I am pleased. I do not understand the mindset of people who complain about a $15 a month subscription. It's the cheapest entertainment you'll get all month. Oh. I'm playing as Astolat & Aureation on the Arcadia server. Please ping me for RP or shenanigans!

I'm still playing, though most of my time is hanging out at various radio shows. I'm lifetime too, so that helps.

If folks ever need help from someone who's slightly unconventional player, I'm DJ-Fox, which is the easiest way to find me, though I have alts.

I love that its easy enough to solo most content. And I'm on Arcadia, but since I don't use my SL persona in any other game, reallty....

Easy way to find RP - Horned God, usually, as well as any of the RFG shows, because we seem to get a decent crowd most nights. But right now our hours are still more east coast friendly, instead of west coast, or europe [but we're trying to fix it. But its an IC station, which is why I mention it; I see a lot of RP going on through the shows.

I know there are three other stations out there, too, but I don't know how RP focused they are. Still, they might be worth at least investigating too.

I wanted to give this game a try what with the impending shut-down of CoX, but like Ramen mentioned, I can't do both an upfront cost and a monthly fee. The 3-day free trial still shows up on my account page (I created one for AO way back in the day), but there's no way to activate it that I can see—I have to create a new account. Way to go, Funcom.

I've actually known about the game for a while now but never looked much into it, although I do like the concept of a level-free system (one of my big draws to Star Wars Galaxies). The main reason I've been hesitant is that there was a completely different 'The Secret World Chronicle' long before this gave was even a concept. I personally know the people involved with it, and some of them are none too happy about the name.

I would like to give it a spin—I need something to fill the impending gaming void in my life—but at the same time part of me feels like I'd be "going behind the backs" of my friends. Call me stupid for that. I really don't care.

I'm still rather pleased with TSW, haven't finished my first month with it yet (at least I don't think I have), but expect to re-up for a 2nd month.

It does somethings very nicely for example:

* 'shards' are kind of 'suggestions' not fixed. If your friend is on a different shard, you can jump over there and team up with them.

* factions aren't "enemies" (except for strictly PvP areas), you can communicate and team up with templars, illuminati or dragon without problem.

* zones are *large* and you tend to stay in them for a long time, which eliminates a lot of the odious 'loading screen' tedium.

* quests are actually interesting and diverse.
Stuff I really don't care that much for:

* dungeons are pretty much the same old dungeons, small team, standard hokey-pokey dance steps with big bosses.

* crafting - uh... whatever. I hate crafting in all mmo's.
The skill wheel concept thing is neat... but I wish there were an easier way of searching for skills that SET or EXPLOIT specific attributes. (ie: Show me everything that helps my chance to evade... or does something special when I succeed in evading). There's a few helpful guides out there... but they don't list all the attributes.

It's silly, but I'm having fun trying to scrounge up the various 'deck outfits'. Should have my third tonight.

did you try the ..emm... "search" function on the skill wheel? There's like a way to "search" for a word and it'll list all the skills (passive and active) that have that word in it. So like if you searched "evade" it would list all the stuff with evade in the description?

Its like, when you open the skill wheel on the right there is this "vertical" column that says "search" or something.. eh! sorry! i'm not logged in the game right now and haven't played it or gw2 in a couple weeks.

maybe you already tried the search though and it didn't provide all the information you were looking for anyways.

Well, would you look at that. They put it right at eye-level, I totally didn't see it lurking there on the right edge of the screen. =D Thanks! =)

This is a very handy site, btw. I think it's better than the search implementation in-game.

"Issue #2: Digging Deeper" Game Update 1.2 - September 18th

Highlights

Brand new missions, the rocket launcher - our first auxiliary weapon including its own mission line - and the plastic surgery and barber shop are now all available as part of The Secret World Issue #2: Digging Deeper. Please click here for more information about the new missions in Issue #2.
And there is also a new title available if you complete all of the Digging Deeper missions!

OCKHAM'S RAZOR!

Unhappy with your hairstyle? With your beard or moustache? Your makeup? At Ockham's Razor in London, you can change them all!

Doubling the number of available hairstyles, players can use in-game cash (PAX) or coupons purchased in the item store to alter their 'do, facial hair or makeup.

THE MODERN PROMETHEUS!

Inside an abandoned abattoir in the bowels of Brooklyn, the infamous Dr Anton Aldini (Peter Stormare) has set up his paraplastic surgery -- the Modern Prometheus -- and on September 11th, his practice will be open for business.

With the Modern Prometheus, we're introducing new heads and new facial features, allowing players to completely alter the way their characters look. The first visit is free, but subsequent nips and tucks will cost PAX. Coupons will also be made available in the item store for those players who are short on in-game cash.

The Secret World

I haven't had a chance to log in and take a peek yet, but will be making a beeline to check out the new hair and face options. But damn, I got to get into Borderlands 2 today too!

Not much content in Issue 3, but apparently it lays the necessary groundwork for a big Halloween event. I just brought a second character through the Orochi base missions in The Scorched Dessert and it's been completely revamped since I went through the first time. It's a hundred times better than it was with more quests that are more challenging. I'm still really impressed by the quality of content in TSW.
