Arrow Lets talk about WoW!

So I'm like four years late to the party but I've been playing for a month and a bit and have got to level 41 and the game has really grown on me. I didn't really like it all that much for the first 20 levels but when I got to Darkshire the quests and flow really improved. I think I felt it wasn't as good before because the quests were mundane and you have to find the right area you are expected to be in, if you go to the wrong place you have no fun at all.

My best loot so far is a Dark Hooded cape, which I wore and then found out afterwards is worth at least 50 gold. Oh well, it looks really cool!

I like WoW...quite a bit. I never made it past lvl 40 though...got tired of putting off other things in life, not to mention pay a monthly I wasn't willing to ante up.

What made it fun, was that my RL GF at the time played with me. We lived together, and played two hours on, two hours off...it was pretty cool. She was as geeked as I was...but it grew old.

If you think WoW was awesome, just think about MMO's in the coming decade...one word: wow.

I love My Huntard to death. It's a great class to learn the game with, but playing it correctly in groups is just as hard as any other class out there. You suddenly realize how little real control you have over the pet when you need to make quick changes, etc.

Muh Tauren Hunter is Lvl 7, halfway to 8. I've been dying which is generally annoying. I think part of it is the fact the Tauren starting area kinda sucks nuts.

Yes. It does. I did it once with a friend and never again.

Make it to level 10 and get your pets. Without a pet hunters are down there with low level druids as 'most annoying class'.

Thinking about redoing Mohawg as a Troll Hunter. That should be fun no?

Also, what professions should I go for?

My first 70 toon and main is a hunter

She's a leatherworker/skinner - you can make pretty good stuff for yourself that way until you get past 60 then gear drops are generally better/easier.

I do love having a personal tank - it makes it very easy to solo a lot of quests.

My 2nd test hunter was a Troll, Abbazabba on Lightninghoof. They have good racials for hunters IMO. Berzerking is a nice talent to boost DPS.

Professions: Skinning is a given. I'm not sure what to say for a 2nd one. You can go leatherworking, but that really doesn't start paying off till outland I've noticed. There are some great drums you can make when you get there though and I love having a bag of tricks like that.

The other 2 gathers, Herbalism and Mining, will interfere with your hunter trackings.

Have you given thoughts to a pet? My recommendation is Boar because they eat anything and you can start with charge (which can stun opponents for a second) and gore (nice dps talent) first thing on them.

My nelf has a cat, but that's only because cat's prowl + shadowmeld == ninja hunter.

I am doing mining but it takes a fecking long time with how they quickly "generously" lower your skill income to around 1 per vein so it's really painful to level up.

I was so excited to get back into WOW yesterday after finding out I have been unknowingly paying for it for about 10 months.

After what I went through to get the game going, I doubt I will ever come back. I tried downloading the client, it was taking forever, their P2P system sucks balls.

So I go to the store to buy it....only to need a 2 gig patch that took nearly 2 hours to download.

So finally I have WOW installed and ready to go. I go to login and it says I need Burning Crusade since I once had it before I originaly left the game.

So there is another two hour download. I just went to bad as it downloaded.

So this morning I wake up, thinking I can jump in for an hour or so before work. Only to find out I need to download another patch.

Holy shit I am annoyed and I think Blizzard can suck my butt hole.

....
...........

............................ok see you in there this weekend.

Don't use their p2p to download old files - try looking for alternative download locations that have the whole file somewhere. If I'm not mistaken, their P2P uses bittorrent, and that is much slower when you're the only one downloading - much faster when there are a lot of people downloading/uploading at the same time. At least that's my guess as to why it's so damn slow.

See this page on blizzard's support site, or google Wow Patch files:

http://us.blizzard.com/support/artic...rticleId=21079

edit to add: or find someone here who can throw up all the patch files at a location for you to download - I'm afraid I can't do this since I'm at work at the moment

Yeah I did look around. File planet did have the Clients but their site was sucking last night too.

I am all set now. I got it all installed just before I had to leave for work. As if Fridays are not hard enough for me to stay in the office.

Okay so Troll Mohawg is fucking awesome and I'm doing much better with him. I've decided if I can, I am going to go Skinning/Fishing and just be a gatherer. My alts can go ahead and craft.

Dumb question though, I read the fishing book, have rod, how do I fish? Do I need to drag the skill into the quick bar?

Who am I kidding, I know I am going to be buying and playing WoW for at least the next 2 months. After that, I guess it depends if I find any friend in there to keep me from being bored.

FYI, if you upgrade to premium you still get the remaining part of your 10 days as part of your nomral time.

D, put your fishing pole in your weapon slot and pull the 'fishing' icon from out of your spellbook (p) to a toolbar.

a bobber will appear. when it splashes, right click the bobber.

skilling up fishing isn't bad until about 200 and then it just becomes a pain

.
Leveling up starts to take longer the higher you get.

I hit 46 in about 2 months. I did not play every night though.

Dancien, fishing is a secondary skill, along with first aid and cooking. You can still learn another primary skill, if you want to be a total gatherer, pick mining or herbalism.

To fish, you have to equip the fishing rod, and use the "fishing" skill. The fishing rod will cast a line with a bobber (?), just click on it when it moves to catch the fish...

Personal note.... fishing suX

Yeah fishing drove me nuts.

There are three secondary professions, first aid, cooking and fishing. You can learn all three.

There are like 8 or 10 primary professions, like herbalism, enchanting, alchemy, leatherworking, etc. You can only have two of these. It's best to pair a gathering skill with a matching crafting skill, like alchemy with herbalism. You don't have to but it means you'll have to get the materials for your crafting from someone else or an alt.

EVERYONE should learn first aid and train it up. It's a very handy skill to have.
