Are Sims 3 meshes available?

I have a bug to try my hand at creating some Sims 3 clothes. I'm pretty good (not great) with Photoshop and I have Zbrush and Blender if needed. But all I can find are these Sims 2 meshes so far.

Anyone know where to find the ones for TS3, or even where I go to find out how to create clothing patterns with alpha channels so I can cut and chop on existing clothes?

Here's a promising tool - only works with textures so far.

Wait - what do you mean you guys are already using this?

TSR - Workshop / Downloads -

Simple, there aren't any meshes for Sims 3 yet.

EA seems to work exclusively with The Sims Resource to develope tools, so if we are supposed to get tools like Bodyshop or Homecrafter to work with - and it's a big "if", some people doubt that EA will allow competition to their very own "pay site" store - those might come from that page.

Or like Delphy, admin of ModTheSims.info said, lean back and relax, there are people working on it. Though he said it a little... differently worded.

PS: MTS has their own pattern tool.

Was it more like "keep your pants on"?

Ya know, I never cared too much for the expansions in 1 & 2, but right now today I'd probably pay for a nightlife expansion to TS3.

And good, robust clothing creation tools!

In a heartbeat.

You can create meshes for Sims 3 already using these tools
Sims 3 Mod Tools

However, it's VERY VERY experimental and incredibly difficult, so I'd wait a bit longer until some better tools are developed - even the developers who made these are having trouble using them and so far, all I've seen made is a pair of sunglasses and a body that went a bit wrong.

However, you can make patterns already and I've been making lots they are much easier to make and implement into the game, so I'd focus your creative side on them until a real mesh editor comes out

Thanks, Muka! I guess I just had a reality check:

Quote:
What you need to get going:

1. First, you need a legal, release copy of the game. I can't promise any of this will work on the pre-release versions.

2. For any of the tools from here, you will need the Visual Studio 2008 Runtime package from Microsoft. Be sure you download the correct (X86) or (X64) package. You might already have this installed, you can check in your Settings->Control Panel->Programs and then look at the installed packages for an item "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable". If you can't find it on your computer, you need to get it.

3. Next, you need some game package tools. I have some command-line tools here (with license terms), or you can look elsewhere on the web, such as at Sims 3 Tools. You need to be able to extract game files and then repackage them to get changes into the game.

4. You will also need to add Rick's nifty game mod addition method, find that here.

5. If you don't already own it, you will need a copy of MilkShape 3D from chUmbaLum sOft. This is not free, but a trial version is available.

6. Then you need to download and install the new Sims 3 MilkShape plugins from here. You must agree to the license terms to use these.

I just wish that EA would make the meshing tools available. I don't make any custom meshes, but I sure the hell download a ton of them. No matter what EA puts in their stores, it's never as good as what the custom content creators can come up with.

Other games which have had a large and vital modding community should have demonstrated by now how much it can help a game and sell expansions or sequels.

Unreal, Morrowind, Hearts of Iron, and dozens of other titles have all shown the real value of extendability. The only people who don't seem to want to listen are at EA

I agree with that. What they don't take into considerations AT ALL are people like me. I'm not a hardcore PC gamer, although my hubby is. Sims is pretty much my computer game, and I can say that without all the custom mods, I would have gotten bored with it a lot quicker. I also may not have been as eager and ready for Sims 3. The new "Create A Style" keeps me busy now when building, but I still can't make my Sims as pretty as I want to, especially with the meshes that EA give you. Even in their store.

EA of course doesn't listen to gamers.

They're EA.

They only listen to shareholders.

They're the future of the games industry (and fuck, how I hate it being an actual moneymaking industry nowadays. I started gaming when game development was still an art)

TBH, from the days when I worked for a games company, the in-house tools tend to be pretty tricky to use as they are designed by the company specifically for professional designers, without a nice user interface, sounds, or any window dressing it all.
The internal tools I used, if I tried to use them now, would be impossible for me as there were no menus and everything relied on you learning all the shortcuts for each function.

I would guess it would be the same for EA's in-house tools (when I worked for EA, they were just the producer for our game, not the developer), which would make them difficult for the average user and may actually get them more criticism or give them way too much work to release training manuals for all the tools.

A new mesh has been released for Sims 3, but it's just a slight boob job which makes very little difference.
However, this means that the modders are getting closer to making clothes meshes! I'll keep people informed when I spot the first new clothes.

I might look into it a bit further this weekend, though I'm not getting my hopes up with it since I've only seen 2 meshes posted so far (a pair of glasses and boobs).

They mention that clothes replace the body mesh when applied - they don't go over the top, so that makes things a little easier but at the same time, it means that cloth effects will never come into the game

I'm not so sure since someone has made a bandana now (but not released it as it's messing up the textures).
I think wings could be applied as an accessory, as you'll notice in the accessory menu, more than one can be applied at a time.

I certainly think they will be possible one way or another.
