My Mood: | Sony Blocks Its Movies From Netflix Streaming to XBOX In an extremely anti-competitive and childish move on the part of Sony, movies and tv shows owned by Sony and its subsidiaries are blocked from being streamed on the new Netflix service on the XBOX 360. Netflix is citing "licensing issues", but the same content plays fine on the PC and on other devices. Sony blocks entire Netflix movie library from streaming to the Xbox 360 - Xbox 360 Fanboy MTV Multiplayer » Netflix Speaks Out On Sony Movies Disappearing From Xbox 360 Service — It’s Not A Glitch Sony once again proves what a short sighted, petty company they are. |

Back, where I belong.
| WTF is up with Sony always making dick moves as far as gaming? They really need to get a new PR department.

My Mood: | They are kind of bitter, I suppose. Blizzard handed them their ass in online gaming, and Apple handed them it in portable music devices. Nintendo has handed them it in gaming, as has Microsoft. Hell, their tvs have Samsung screens in them now. They are a shell of their former company, and just way too damn big to do anything right anymore. Areas they once dominated are no longer theirs to command, so they pull silly shit like this. |

My Mood: | Truth of the matter is their own petty grievances and shortcomings will be their own downfall. I see a huge crash in the making. Without the outsourced franchises like samsung sony is slowly but surely falling off the map. the xbox 360 completely dominated the ps3 and for less money, their handfull of "franchise" titles were nothing compared to the mountain of xbox content (of better quality) pooring from the game industry. cheers to microsoft and let them be petty, we are truley sorry you spent so much money on blue ray technology that no one gives 2 shits about. I will say this sony, when your company fails(and it will) where would be the best place to go buy a new liquidated sale priced sony television? Oh wait! sorry, you can't liquidate your TV's because samsung has a part in them. SONY= FAIL |

I thought they should have
filed for bankruptcy BEFORE we
gave them billions of dollars
| Seems like good business sense to me - the 360 is competition because it's so content-rich. This move makes it a little less content-rich. It sucks for consumers but this move will please shareholders.

Noch ein Bier
| Sony is like the dinosaurs. Too big for its own good, and unable to adjust to a changing world. I've been waiting for the meteor to hit ever since the rootkit debacle.

| Microsoft always gets the rap of being the root of all evil, but I think they're downright saintly compared to Sony and Apple. Pretty stupid move on Sony's part. PS3 will probably do very well by the time this generation is over once their game library improves and blu-ray gets wider adoption. I wonder if now they'll also block MS from being able to make a blu-ray add-on for the 360. I can understand their disappointment that the PS3 hasn't done well, but seems to me that makes it even dumber of them to cut off additional revenue streams. |

My Mood: | Well said chip and daman, Dont get me wrong the PS3 was not a failure, it did make money. But no where near expectations. You cant dump a bunch of technology that people can't see or use into a console just for the sake of being "next gen". The 360 and other microsoft gaming adaptations will continue to improve and continue to provide consumers with products to keep our technological apetites well satisfied. As for sony, does anyone else just think they are seeming like a captain destined to go down with the ship. This xbox update kinda has me stoked on console games again. I definately see blue ray technology coming to the xbox or the next generations counterpart but i think it will be a much more affordable option when microsoft is ready to go ahead with it. |

| That pretty shit. I don't like Sony either, but blu-ray is the only HD format at the moment. I'm dealing with the devil, eh?

Is Three apples Tall
| Funny thing though.. I was all for the PS3 until I got it, but when 10 minutes on youtube proved the things are rubbish.. only certain videos work.. never songs that are copyrighted, and every couple of clicks the dam thing redirected to the RNC debate page.. that was creepy! The one game I held hope for turned out to be rubbish (GT prologue) PS3's to me suck.. I dont like our Xbox either though. |

My Mood: | To be honest I can't even begin to guess what could happen with sony. A few years ago I could have sworn nintendo was in its last days and then the wii came out of no where and was completely a marketing gem. what?! a game system that caters to children and adults, and parents actually love it and encourage children to play?! a system that makes children active and physical and hones hand eye coordination. I think they through out the most novel and despirate prayer to save the company possible and look what happened. Personally im not a huge fan of nintendo systems as a whole, but they have done an amazing job of staying in the game. who knows what sony will do, maybe they will completely shy away from the "playstation" name and throw up a despiration system that will be complete gold. Damn crazy corporate power struggles and marketing ploys get me every time. P.S. Sony is still a bunch of assholes. the end. |

My Mood: | I honestly half-wonder if we'll see Sony slapped with anti-trust suits as a result of this sort of action. It's rather reminiscent of the same behaviour MicroSoft got slapped down for years ago. I agree, though, with the overall tone- for all that I may dislike MS, the notion that they're the root of all evil is laughable, especially when it's coming from a bunch of angry 1337k1dz talking about how mean ol' MicroSoft is picking on "poor little" Sony. Speaking of which, didn't Sony also get slapped around a bit recently over importing what amounted to stolen IP, technologically-speaking, from China, as a way of trying to avoid paying revenue to a patent holder in the US who developed said tech decades ago? With the colored diodes, and their use in BlueRay lenses? |

My Mood: | Sony says it is a licensing related and that their movies will be available once it is taken care of. “This issue is not specific to Xbox or any other individual platform,” said a Sony Pictures spokesperson in an e-mailed statement. “Sony Pictures is currently in discussions with the relevant parties to resolve certain licensing matters related to the distribution of its motion pictures. Given the ongoing nature of these discussions, we don’t think it is appropriate to comment further at this time.” MTV Multiplayer » Sony Pictures Says Netflix Streaming Issue ‘Not Specific To Xbox’ |

Sony most likely has a whole army of lawyers who would have easily foreseen "licensing issues" ages ago with their movies. They are just being dicks. | |

My Mood: | It sucks for us, the consumer that this has to happen, sony studios produces some great movies however the amount of time ill be watching movies on my xbox will be minimal. It's more the gesture that kind of annoys me. Competition between companies is always a good thing, it breeds better products. But when that competition starts to hurt the consumer of both partys and eventually ends with the customer choosing to wash their hands of both companies then its gone a little too far. compete by offering competitive features, prices, and technology imo, not petty marketing/licensing strategies. But what do i know, Im just a noob with a community college associates. It's fun to act smart on teh interwebz tho. |
