I'm having fun with WAR too! I kinda slightly prefer its atmosphere over WOW, Blizzard took the style Games Workshop developed(which is why they're similar visually) and made it into their own branch, which is cool and very fantasy. I just relate a bit better to the slightly goofy yet RAAAAAAAAAAWRGH!!! attitude that GW and Mythic are going with here.

Currently, I'm doing the Witch Elf thing, but hope to try out the Engi too. Loving the PVP so far!

Satiri, Magus - Ostermark
Sezmra, Witch Elf - Ostermark
Myali, Engineer - White Tower

I would say the graphics are closer to Vanguard or EQ2 in a lot of ways - and are also darker and grittier. Not lots of bright, glowly colors all over everything like in WoW. There are some similarities, but all games in the genre tend to look a little bit alike. I think it has a beautiful game engine so far, it is definitely not lacking there.

I've even heard that Blizzard tried to buy Warhammer back before they made the first Warcraft game.

Got WAR to stop BSODing me, but it's going insane with RAM at times, demanding my swap disk is accessed aggressively when standing on an empty plain

Ostermark server and the Destruction faction is where several of us are.

If you want to do a good bit of damage go Marauder or Magus. I personally like the Marauder for dps melee damage plus he is dual wield right at the start.

Cool. Usually in games like this I end up the Tank. Which is alright I guess. I could go with something that heals I suppose.

On another server I'll play a Dwarven Engineer though definitely.

Then the Chosen is for you. The Dwarf Iron Breaker is a Tank as well.

I have a Witch Hunter called Cistoris on the Tor Elyr server. As you can tell I like my dps melee characters.

Sounds all really good and based on people's comments I think I'll be buying this. Looks really good. Those screenshots I would have said they looked more EQ2 and Vanguard as well, especially the first one looked like something out of their expansion Kunark from last year.

I have been experimenting with different character types, and ended up back at my typical choice of a WoW hunter style character - a high elf white lion.

The more I play WAR, the more I am struck by how much more alive the world seems somehow than in WoW in some ways, I guess because there is so much spontaneous combat going on in some places. It's an interesting effect - it feels very engrossing, especially when combined with the public quests.

No I am Chaos on that server - you can only be one type it said when I tried to create an Order character. I have two characters on there - a witch and a magus, I'm not really liking the witch though and will probably go back to the other character. Right now I am still in the experimental stage on finding what type of character I really want. I'll have to look up what server I am on for Order, it is an RP server that begins with an A.

Yay the new patch fixed something that was annoying the hell out of me - having to scroll down through the EULA every time before you could accept it.
