Make sure you are doing the exact same moves they are and after you do a move, check how much the bar goes up. If it goes slower when singing than when dancing, get a better singing mouth, etc.
If you dance after they pose, it won't go up much at all - you just have to do the exact same thing the computer does.

I was so looking forward to this game. But with crappy DRM possibly corrupting my computer with junk I can't get rid of, oh well, no thanks. Maybe I'll get a pirated version or just forget it. Check out the Amazon user reviews. 1009 out of 1089 reviews are one star. Sure it is DRM haters coming out in force but still... I have never bought a DRM protected music cd and never will though I have hundreds of cds that aren't. I think the time has come to say no to DRM protected games too. Oblivion was horrible because it checked the disk so often it slowed the game down badly until I got a crack. Forget that stuff.

Get Mercenaries, its more fun blowing shit up than it is playing Spore. Especially if, like me, you get bored with the game half way through the second stage. Besides in Mercs 2, unlike Spore, you can co-op with a Xbox Live buddy.

I'm addicted.

currently trying to get to the heart of the galaxy.. but none of the local black holes brought me in close.
I got to wondering if the start ponts in the galaxy are reflected in the start up screen.
gonna start a new game at the point near the galactic centre.

As to those seying it has no depth...

ok, tribal and civilisation phases are a little dull.. but creature and space make up for that.

treat it like a sandbox, and youll get more out of it..

I guess as a sandbox it's ok.

The space stage is also lacking -as a game- however.

The biggest thing I think they should add would be a damn overview window.

Something that gives you a list of all planets you own, their T-score, their colour of spice and how much colonies they have would be the very least.

A second screen that lists all the other civs you discovered and their relationship with you would also go a great way towards making the space stage feel less shallow.

I still have fun with it. But every hour or so my mind DOES wander off again to Galactic Civilisations or Sins of a Solar Empire - thinking about what a space strategy SHOULD play like. Maybe it's just me. But I'm used to playing these deep 4x strategy games with tons of information screens. I just can't understand how you manage an empire of 45 planets without an overview screen though.

And if you think about it, the interface is there already. They could the My Collections button, just add a collection of races and a collection of planets.

Got it last night. Was glued to it for about 6 hours. I think it is an awesome game. It is a bit shallow but I also think that may be the beauty of the game.

I definitely see Will Wright making a MMOPG spin off game like he did with The Sims.

I'm still looking forward to playing it. I vowed long ago not to give EA another dime. I plan on sticking to that. I enjoy EA games DRM and secure rom free. When they change their business practices and their futile efforts to stop piracy, by inconveniencing legitimate paying customers. They can recieve my money again.

Of course I may have to eat a little crow when the KOTOR mmo is released.

Anyway I wanna see some pics of your creatures.

I downloaded it off the EA site. Obviously no disc, so I don't think it's using securom, or any of the disc based drm. I have the setup files sitting in the open on my computer now. Theoretically Can use that and the key it gave me to install anywhere. I think the ea download versions do require the ea downloader be installed though. I tried uninstalling it and it stopped the old creature creator from working. As anoying tray apps go it's not bad though. Beats for instance, steam .

The EA Downloader is bad news also. Not as much QQing about that but I've seen my share around the Sims2 community about it.

I believe they can include SecuROM's 'call home' functionality in digital distribution, to allow the games to activate themselves a limited number of times. I believe the Bioshock Steam download I got did that.

Securom is no longer purely disc based. Hasn't been for quite a while.

And for the record, I never had a serious problem with disc based DRM. It's the whole new generation of DRM (like the new Securom) that is taking things way too far.

I don't care if a game gets 1 activation or 10 or 100. The fact it has to be activated is pure evil in itself. A game should never call home unless I tell it to.

The game has an offline modus you can play in, but all it ensures is that no user-made content is downloaded. When you play in offline modus, it still tried to connect to the web.

Unless you use a crack, you cannot run Spore on a PC unconnected to the Web. That is my main issue with many modern games and software - anything from Windows to Photoshop to Spore needs to call home and 'activate' - noone can say for sure what information is sent as part of this activation though.

OK.. I was right.. your start point on the map is reflected on the game start screem..

Towards the core, system density is higher, and there are nore species around.

Within a short time there.. I was at war with 3 hostile species, all within 4 parsecs of my homeworld. AKK

This one post was even more confusing than that one time I heard you slur in a Scottish accent. Impressive.

Wow.

I started on the farthest left planet. And found like 4-5 species, though they were more like 5-10 parsecs away. Ended up allying two and warring two. Once those two were destroyed I decided to ally everyone though since that's easier. Most of the races I've been encountering lately were ascended by me from creature, tribe or civ stage with monoliths. That immediately gives a 50 point relationship boost. Those monoliths are like instant ally growers.

When I finally managed to find a wormhole close to the grox, I tried to even ally them. I did the same thing I did with every race, since I'm a master terraformer. I went to one of their T0 worlds and used an atmosphere improver. That usually gives HUGE boosts in relationship.

Only, it had a more interesting reaction on the Grox. Won't spoil it yet. But definitely try to terraform a world with Grox living on it.

One thing I am disapointed in. I want a game where I am more like God. There should be a God simulator. I don't want to be leader of a species, I want to feel like I am in control of the whole world. All I have to do is sit back and inflict my will.

How about Black & White? The first one. I really felt in the first Black & White like a whimsical omnipotent being, not so much in the second. I had the same normal RTS feeling of Ms Strategist/Commander in the sequel. But something about the first, and hearing the calls of people in danger and throwing Jerry Lewis into the sea was very empowering

I played Spore through to Space last night, and then had a crash. Luckily, my last save was a little after I had advanced to space, but I still lost some rare artifacts and colonies and that was enough to make me head to bed.

My favorite stage was definitely Creature.. I purposely spent an absurdly long time there, even after I'd officially advanced, tweaking and improving my creature. I ended up with a very cool bird being, and almost everything I could unlock unlocked. After a while, I was just sweeping into enemy nests, picking up unlocks and fluttering away before they could hurt me too bad. Plus I kept humming Wagner when my pack and I were flying over mountains.

Tribe and Civ went pretty fast, Civ felt a lot like the pre-school version of SM's Alpha Centauri. I really loved the creators though, and the amount of flexibility the building creator had was absolutely wonderful. Huge towers, asymmetry, combining blocks and roofs and details, I loved that. Especially the ability to control exactly where and what to paint with what, but I think I MUST be missing an eyedropper tool. Surely it has to be somewhere. It's just too much of a necessity for it not to be there, and yet I can't find it and when I miss that one little piece of awning, I have to dig up my color and material settings for it again. Thank goodness for Paint Like.

I agree with what other people have said... it seems so weird after spending so much time interacting with creatures and having it be so much a part of what we thought Spore was about, to never actually see them in 50% or more of the game.

I'm going to need to play it more (apparently the space phase is good) but so far my reaction to this game is "meh." I just passed tribal stage.

Sure, you can make stuff, but the actual game elements are extremely simple, repetitive, and lack any sort of strategy. You either 1) fight by spamming numbers 1-4 or 2) be friendly by engaging in a very dull version of Simon Says. Then you add stuff and repeat. In Creature and Tribal you can win 100% of the time by beefing up your packmates or tribesmen and storming, without one of them dying.

The graphics are also very poor, and it doesn't even do cartoony charm well, so there isn't any eye candy to lessen the impact of negligible gameplay.

The game EVO: Search for Eden for super nintendo is extremely similar to Spore through the cell and creature stages- and it had deeper gameplay than Spore. That a 14 year old game outspores spore is shameful.
