I suggest games that are a few years old, so most computers can run 'em (Empire Earth? Starcraft? Total Annihilation? Homeworld? Myth2?)

Are you talking about our favorite MMO?

Sadly I think it counts more as.... an MMO. Although that's probably the reason I love it so, that it plucks my RTS heartstrings.

Or we could do Warcraft, good old fashioned Warcraft III. Ok, but getting off of Blizzard... lol

Savage was a pretty cool idea, it's an RTS + fantasy FPS, where you can control an army of people who are playing from the FPS point of view and can take your orders. There's also the Command & Conquer series which is a classic or maybe Age of Empires or Mythology. Couple of problems with the different RTS games is that each one tends to need some random gaming service you need to sign up for and some of them don't even exist anymore

The first time I played Starcraft was at a LAN party with a bunch of friends who had played it through high school. I was usually stomped out of the game inside of 10 minutes, regardless of the team I was on.

I hate the micromanagement. 12 units at a time? Ridiculous.

I'd say Homeworld but it's a bitch to get it to run on Vista and I dont know if I feel like doing that again. But yah Starcraft would be cool, when SC II comes out I'm gonna disappear for like a month.
