Funny Place/Street Names

I don't want to derail Aimee's storm warning thread any further and i just had to post these photos.

Edit: Hmm. This would maybe have been more appropriate in the ZOMGWTFBBQGTFOLOLCATS forum?

In WoW the Blasted Lands, Searing Gourge and Dead Wind Pass are just above Booty Bay... over a little further is The Wetlands...

Stop cheating, Psyke. They have to be real places, like that moon base.

You and Khamon both get bonus points for knowing about that television show.

Funny how, as bad as Space:1999 was, it makes the current batch of "scifi" tv serials (run in the USA) look like first-year art school projects. No, wait, makes them look like bad YouTube postings.

Terrible plots, so-so acting, mediocre special effects ... but top notch model work.

But hey, it's a Gerry Anderson pronduction where even mediocre and campy becomes a guity pleasure. I loved the show.

Pinewood Studio's fingerprints all over it, right? If they had edited in scenes from Captain Scarlet I'd probably have accepted it without any argument. Don't feel bad, I came out of the bad scifi closet long ago---a man's got to live like...a spaceman!

Everybody knows about the French town of Condom don't they?

It lies on the river Baise, and the word baise just happens to be a French euphemism for fucking. Or should that be baiser? Either my French is faulty or I'm making this up as I go along.

Apparently, that UK tidal wave did not affect our Tyche. I shall give up eating Yorkie candy bars in her honor.

If you hit this sign you will hit that bridge!"

We could do with one of those signs around these parts. There's a really low bridge that a double decker bus inevitably attempts to go under every five years or so.

Quite a few towns in Britain had streets in what we would now call the 'Red Light District' which were officially called 'Grope Cunt Lane'

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gropecunt_Lane

One of these is the earliest use of this most contentious word - 1230
