You may notice that one of the orbital in our symbol is broken, or open-ended. We recognize that with new knowledge come new questions and areas for human inquiry and exploration.

That open orbital forms an "A" to represent Atheism. The small letter in the center represents of the first letter of the country in which an affiliated group is located. In our case, the "A" signifies American, and the symbol thus represents American Atheists.

I think that Religion and politics are too intertwined to have seperate forums..

I see the Sharia Law thread in religion and think "No.. this is a political issue, far more than it is religious".. sure there could be a religion subforum for purely theological debates, or better yet.. a religion and philosophy subforum.

However with religion and politics informing each other on so many issues... i think we'll still see threads with a religious slant in politics, and vice versa

I see your point, so I'm not as disgusted now as I was when I first saw the forums were merged. I'm only mildly disgruntled.

From my own personal standpoint, this means that if I want to see what's in the religion category I have to wade through a hundred hate-Bush-hate-Hillary-fuck-neocons threads just to get to the part where we're bashing Christians and atheists. Dammit.

I'll probably be better off just ignoring that whole forum, but I know my willpower and it's not good. *sigh*

I never pay attention to whats in which thread, I just look at new posts and decide if I should go in based on title. Everything always runs off topic anyways so not sure why what a thread is called really matters all that much.
