I have been having several PM exchanges over the last week or so. However, when I go to Private Messages all I see are the PMs in my Inbox (read and unread). All my replies are not listed. I have tried the Sent Items folder, but it is empty.

How do I find my responses to PMs?

You have two folders for PM's Inbox and Sent Messages . You'll find your replies in the Sent Messages folder - You can select this from the Folder Control part at the top of the PM screen

Unless you have "Save a copy of private messages I send" checked in User CP-->Edit Options, it does not save a copy of sent pms by default.

Cris, I don't know about anyone else, but I don't have that option on the page you specified.

The forum can send a message to your email address to inform you when someone sends you a private message. Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages
If you are browsing the forums when you receive a new private message, the system can pop-up a notification box informing you of the new message. Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up

That is weird - I checked permissions and there does not seem to be a setting for whether or not to save sent messages. Do you have a checkbox at the bottom of a PM when you are creating it to save a copy?

There is no option in Edit Options, to automatically save all Sent Messages, however, as you suggest, there is an option to save each individual message, it is at the bottom, under the reply box, like this:

Additional Options

Miscellaneous Options Request a read receipt for this message
Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder.
Show your signature
Automatically parse links in text
Disable smilies in text

I can see the same options as in the screenshot you posted. weird. (and yes I've got save sent pms ticked and have a copy of all of the ones I've sent in there)

The option under Edit Options is only there under the new skin not Dark or Blue.

The option to "Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder." seems to be available on all skins when composing PM's

that's so odd isn't it? I mean, it must have been ticked from the start for me to be able to have saved all my sent pms, but the new skin only appeared this week. *is confused*

Odd? It it positively weird. I just experimented with the different skins, and there, under MultiColor SLU, under Edit Options, you get the option to Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default, and it is not there under other skins!

That needs fixing.

I'm seeing what Winter sees on the User CP > Edit Options page. Do not save sent messages automatically, but do get the option to save them individually. Using the default skin.

I no longer have the option to save PMs in my Edit Options either, but I remember when I first set up my options, that option was there, and I had set it.

I just verified that My PMs are getting saved.

Sorry to derail the thread, but is there a way to automatically receive a read receipt for sent messages, without having to tell the system that every time I send a message?

I know there's that box at the bottom of the message when I'm composing it which says "Request a read receipt for this message", but is there a way to have this happen automatically?

I hesitate to say this, but on the much less sophisticated SL forums, there is that option.

Or maybe I've just missed in the Edit Options someplace??

I have verified this too; the option doesn't show on the blue skin but it does show on the Fatpack. And it must have been showing at some stage because I've always used the blue skin, and my PMs are saved, so I must have set it on somehow.
