I've never used invisible mode. Don't really care one way or the other about it. I'm totally indifferent to invisibility.

Nobody ever notices me anyway, so why would I bother?

I don't use it - don't care if people know I'm here or not.
The only time I notice who's in a thread is if I go to leave Mereille a message. Then if she's in PRS I tease her about it.

I keep telling her that PRS is Teh Evol - but she never listens. Just like RL.

And she spies on me.

Although I'll often become visible if I want to partake in chat.

I'm not embarrassed by my invisibility in the slightest.

In fact I wish there was an easier way to toggle it for when I'm feeling sociable.
I always thought it was kind of crazy to "know what other people are reading."

Things that a person wouldn't know in real life - things that are sort of a super, god-like knowing - have always seemed distasteful to me. Knowing the thread another person is reading is one of those.

I usually have several windows open with several tabs open in each one. I do it because I am not always at the computer and don't want anyone to doubt my reading comprehension... I also save my tabs and windows when quitting Firefox so when I reopen... there I am where I left off.

Does this mean you also know I follow Perez Hilton and what porn I am watching too?

Eeeeek!

If you live in the UK and you're browsing invisibly you're wasting your time.

The government will know what you're reading

I set it to invisible when I wasn't able to reply quickly, either because I was on my phone and it was too much hassle to follow threads and type real responses, or because I was too tired to be sociable or make sense. I wanted to be completely asynchronous. I didn't want folks to think I was ignoring them when I was just short of a real keyboard.

Considering how well they specify and manage their IT projects, even if the bill does pass, it's unlikely to ever work properly, if at all.
For example

Yeah then they'll lose the data when some daft civil servant accidentally leaves their laptop on a bus.

And even if they do keep it all they still have too much red tape and not enough financial resources to be able to sort and use it. There could be people discussing a terrorist operation and they wouldn't have a hope of finding or using the correct data in court to get a conviction.

It's just a monumental waste of money.

*eyedart* Shouldn't this be in the PRS forum? *cough*

Invisibility on vbulletin forums is about hiding yourself from governments?

There are recent PRS threads about extensions to, and abuse of, The Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act, yes.

I don't use invisibility but people probably think I am as mad as a horse. I usually have SLU open all the time and just refresh when I come back to it. I rarely switch off my pc so it might seem I sit in a thread for eons. I do try to at least move myself back to the main page now lest people think I am obsessing over something but I often forget. SO if you see me sitting in your thread it probably means I am in i-player or 4 on demand catching up with whats been on TV.

Or I might be obsessing.

You'd think their ability to lose things should extend to red tape ... na-ah.

Sorry, Brenda. and I needed some...private time and we don't have a place of our own, so we snuck in here for some hot interspecies action. I swear, Cristiano, we will clean up when we are finished.
