Everytime I click 'the 'laugh' button, I get taken to a page that says:

I've been having this problem for a few days also. This is the newest addition to: waiting 10-15 seconds for a thread page to unlock and allow scrolling; the page making a round trip to the server when all I do is click a button, making me wait another 10 seconds until it refreshes,; losing my session and logging me out even when active; and losing my skin preference. All of these latter have been going on for about 2 months.

I just didn't want to be a cry baby.

It's only been happening tonight - I just clicked laugh then and it showed up but I still got taken to that page... some sort of psychological shit going on here!

All of those symptoms sound like a problem with your browser - something is interfering.

Alfie, please test with a different browser just to see if it is the browser causing it.

Losing session and skin preference?

Have you disabled cookies? Could your av/security software be blocking cookies without you realising?

The page locking/disallowing scrolling issue sounds like a browser symptom that occurs when a poor connection prevents the page from loading in a timely manner. Ie. if the page can't completely load, then the browser can't completely render it, so you can't interact with it... until it's done.

I do appreciate the suggestions, gentlemen, but been here, done that. This is perhaps the third time this has happened to me in the past 10 months. I've done all the clear cache/cookies/files dances, etc.etc. This occurs on two different machines on three networks. Atia also gets it on two different machines on two networks. The first time it happened, I did all the usual stuff and it didn't help. Then it went away of its own accord. Then it came back and I did nothing, and it went away of its own accord. Now I'm doing the usual, and it isn't going away.

Also - re: disabled cookies, security interference, etc - it happens only with SLU. I use many sites that require cookies and much more, and no other site I access acts in this way.

Oh, and I don't use different browsers. Call me stubborn, but I'm just not the type to shop around trying this and that basic tool just to access relatively simple content - just like SL, as I don't try out the other viewers. If it doesn't work with IE, the most used browser out there, I generally don't bother.

I stay here and deal with it because SLU is too important to me.

I didn't want to piss and moan, but there it is

I'm of the opposite persuasion, if a site refuses to play nice with Firefox, I consider the site not worth bothering with.

That still doesn't indicate a problem with SLU. It's more likely that perfectly standard page code is triggering a UI bug that exists in IE.

Which version of IE are you using?

How up-to-date are your graphics card drivers?
