It's fine to disagree, but some of the personal attacks are getting out of control and honestly make the people using them look rather foolish for overreacting, and make others uncomfortable.

The bottom line is please just be a bit nicer to each other - it won't kill you to bite your tongue, so to speak, and resist being so hostile. I don't expect things to always be calm and civil, but even in fighting someone, there is a big difference between arguing and annihilating. The latter is just completely unnecessary, and leads to a lot of negativity and pain.

As I said earlier, I am proud of the community here at SLU - just stop attacking each other so much. Put a little more thought into how you respond, even in anger. Also, make use of the tools to ignore people and content you don't want to see here.

All kidding aside, I have moderated a few boards in my time, thankfully as part of a staff so we could spread out the responsibility. Anyone who hasn't done this kind of thing before would be surprised at the silliness that a moderator has to put up with. Everything from the blatant a$$ kissers and phoney people to just outright whack jobs. If there is any way at all that someone can misinterpret a thread, the moderator has already heard 4 different versions of it.

It's a tough job and you do it well. How do I know? Because you are so well respected by EVERYONE on this board. Not an easy task my friend.

I completely agree. I moderated a forum for two months before I quit. It was either quitting or killing everyone, so I thought I would spare myself the strip search and just let it go. The whole experience diminished my view of humanity a bit.

It's a good point to keep in mind before one flames another into ash. Thanks, Brave.

Taking a break is sometimes healthy-- posting with unresolved emotions is not a good thing, rather. And if one likes pissing in other's Cheerios, I can't really respect that person very much.
