9 year old's school lunch blog - now banned :(

I forgot to post this - or maybe it did get posted but I can't find it - but anyway...

This 9 year old little girl in Scotland started blogging about her school lunches. She'd take a picture and put down some stats - her rating of the lunch, how many mouth-fulls it was, etc.

And it went viral.

And I just got notice it got shut down.

This was just on the radio news. The local council (who have been the ones who have made the ban on the girl taking pictures, not the school) seem more concerned about protecting and covering their own arses for providing such inadequate meals than actually supporting the education of a forward thinking, bright, young girl.

ps: Whoever decided that the multifunctional trap plates they now use for school meals were more efficient than plates and trays, really lost the idea that food needs to look good when it's presented in order for it to be appetising.

like I said in my other post. Her blogs better written than most adults and she's done more good than most adults ever do. Really annoyed about this.

Angry email has been sent.

I don't know if this is true, but here's a quote from one of the comments in her blog from June 14:

Hi. Twitter got a bit vexed about this so many people with influence have highlighted this as an issue. I believe the the Cabinet Secretary for Education has committed himself to phoning the Chief Executive of the council enquire about this "daft" decision.

Hope you get to continue with your excellent photos and blog.

The leader of Argyll & Bute Council has ordered staff to lift the ban immediately

Quote:
Argyll and Bute Council said press coverage of the blog had led catering staff to fear for their jobs.

But council leader Roddy McCuish later told BBC Radio 4's World at One programme that he had instructed senior officials to lift the ban immediately.

He said: "It is a good thing to do, to change your mind, and I have certainly done that."

The council was widely criticised for the move, which had sparked a furious reaction on social media.

I think you know why I don't have a picture today but I will have on Monday! Thanks to everyone that has helped to get my blog back on track. I would have missed writing it a lot and I'm looking forward to sharing my dinners and yours.

I worried yesterday that I would never reach enough money to buy a Mary's Meal kitchen in Malawi (31 seconds!) but we have raised a total of £45,889.46 which is more than one kitchen! It could be many kitchens or one kitchen feeding many children for years.

A small thank you isn't enough so here's a big THANK YOU to you all!

See you on Monday,

VEG
Sorry... What? £45,889.46..... Holy crap! Shes 9! I mean I was impressed a 9 year old raised £2,000....

£45,889.46 !!!!

Shes NINE! O.O

Bloody hell... Makes you feel good about the future of our species that does doesnt it?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't like their food touching each other. We need a support group!
