What type of food are you craving RIGHT NOW?

I was watching a few videos from the YouTube Play collaboration with the Guggenheim Museum and came across this shortlisted video that features a woman documenting her food cravings over the period of one month.

So folks, what are you craving RIGHT NOW?

I'm kinda hankering for a bowl of poutine.

Oh that sounds good! Usually after I satisfy a salt craving I need something sweet. Have you ever made caramel sauce at home .. it's pretty easy and it's great poured warm over ice cream.

None. I had deep dish pizza for dinner and am incredibly full. I need to get over my cough so I can go back to running every day.

Crab and cheese stuffed mushroom. Problem there is I am extremely (as in hospital trip) allergic to shellfish and a little allergic to mushrooms and cheese. lol
Oh well.

I would settle for mint chocolate chip ice cream, though. *goes and finds some sugar free pudding instead)

Iīm weird with ice-creams i only ate chocolate one for the first 20 years of my life after trying all the other flavours and going meh at each one. But i started mixing a bit vanilla and cream or caramel later, still only sauce i actually like is chocolate. When my partner was over i bought some of this caramel ice-cream and i usually hate chunks in my ice-cream, but i fell in love with this one and we would have the ocasional big bowl with one spoon between us.
The craving is either because i miss him or because i love ice-cream in the winter i have no idea.
Oh i have huge salt cravings and they are always followed by a need for sugar specially around 3 am for some reason.

And i want that caramel sauce recepie please... pretty please, I promise to at least try it iīll try anyting when it comes to food.

i always crave things like avocado with salt and lemon.. or a huge salad with tomatos, avos, palmitos, shredded cabbage,asparagus.. with a nice french dressing..

or fresh fruit.. like eat until you nearly die .. peaches, grapes, mangos, litchees.. any fruit really..

why? because these things are among the most expensive in japan.. sounds weird right..

1 apple = 1 beer
1 nice melon will put you back more than a bottle of scotch..
1 really nice melon will put you back more than a shitload of scotch.

the only really cheap fruit is bananas... and i think its because theyre so perishable.

discount melon...

the price is for 1 apple.. not the whole lot...

Oh I would hate to be allergic to shellfish! I'm a bit allergic to eggplant which I love but eat regardless. Thankfully it's nothing severe.

Really good Japanese, Indian or Thai food. In the area of Mexico we are in, the restaurants just don't exist and the ingredients to make a lot of the stuff at home is almost impossible to find, so we have to improvise
Coffee Crisp chocolate bars. Another thing that just doesn't exist here

Done!
You'd think avocados would be easy to get here in the land of the green fruit, but those little things are always a gamble. I have about the same luck with rock/paper/scissors most days.
Melons, not so much here but papaya, pineapple and mangoes if you time them right are ridiculously cheap

Hmm I'm so awful with recipes because I generally don't cook with them lol. So here's what I do. Use a pot with fairly high sides and make sure you do this when you won't get distracted because you'll have a big mess really quickly if you're not careful. Take about 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and place into the pot on med high heat. Do not stir it. You'll start to see the sugar start to melt. Once it starts to get liquidy in parts you can start swirling it with the undissolved bits. It will all eventually melt and then it will start to go brown rather rapidly so be careful watching it and swirl to get it consistent. Don't let it go too far .. once it is all dissolved and hits a medium golden brown colour you can add in a couple of tablespoons of butter and heavy cream at which point you can stir it. It will also foam up a bit so be extra careful because hot sugar can cause really bad burns. Add a tiny pinch of salt and some vanilla and you're good to go. Sorry those aren't the greatest directions lol.

Also rather than just using a dry pot with sugar in it, you can also put a few tablespoons of water in the pot first and then dump in the sugar. It will take a bit longer because the water has to burn off but essentially you're melting the sugar and waiting for it to carmelize to develop the flavour before you add the butter and cream.

Cold roast beef and cheddar on a toasted roll with caramelized onions and a really good horseradish, with a side salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes and shelled sunflower nuts.

melons here are overrated.. you CAN sometimes get cheap (for japan) melons for about 500yen but theyre going to taste more like cucumbers than anything else.. or are 3rd grade fruit (already done their stint in the top supermarkets AND the normal supermarkets) and will probably have alcohol content because theyre so old.

as a kid my mum always gave me a whole apple to eat.. you know just bite into it and eat it (after washing) if i do this in front of many of my friends.. they get a shocked look on their face .. like they want to say...
WTF are you doing.. peel that apple.. cut it up.. and share it with 9 other ppl FFS.
