I'm going to post a 3rd person comment. My stepdaughter told me that my mother's toffee is the best thing she's ever had.

I hate toffee, but it sure means a lot to to me to have that connection between my family, so I'm happy for both of them, and to overhear a phone call about said subject between them, in which both of them were audibly beaming while sharing the recipe.

Not sure if taffy is the same as toffee, but it is soon Saint-Catherine's feast day (Nov. 25th) when taffy is traditionally given out in her honour around these parts, and since Taco mentionned toffee.... All I want is some ooey-gooey, stick to your teeth and cause damage 'tire de Sainte-Catherine'!!!

Stuffed cabbage rolls atop a bed of garlic mashed potatoes with corn on the side.

Unless one of you Americans want to invite me over for Thanksgiving; I could go for turkey, too...

You can come and trade places with my sister-in-law. That would be the best Thanksgiving ever

Canadian Thanksgiving always seems too early in the season for me and it's hard listening to all the American turkey talk when I have to wait until Christmas. Can I borrow some leftover turkey from someone? I'm totally craving a turkey sandwich.

Light, flaky and buttery homemade shortbread! Like the kind my Mommy makes with the fork marks. Damn Christmas music makes me hungry.

For some reason, a terribly persistent craving for me lately has been water chestnuts. My brain demands with maddening insistence that I devour their intriguing crunchiness along with much soya sauce and other Asian stir fry sauces, yet alas, seldom do we have a can in the house when I crave them. The weird thing is I actually don't LOVE Asian sauces or soya sauce or anything, I just .. crave it.

I want some non-christmassy food. I love all that stuff, but there's always too much of it.

Some simple veggie soup and toast would be awesome

sub roll split and opened up
honey turkey sliced thin with swiss cheese laying over it
toasted so the cheese melts over the meat
then add sliced pickles and miracle whip

simple..and so damn yummy

I had this absolutely delicious butterscotch meringue ice cream dessert at a hotel restaurant lately.

Butterscotch sauce, caramel-ish ice cream and whipped cream with deliciously chewy meringue, it was so good!

For some reason I am completely craving it right now, which is impractical. I can neither buy nor otherwise obtain this thing! Even if I went back to the restaurant there's no guarantee it's still on the menu. OH WOE MY PAIN IS ETERNAL.

I'm craving cloves. So much so, I can almost smell them. I'm not certain why, they're not something I usually cook with.

Apart from in ham and spice cookies and breads, in what else are they used in? Maybe I'll make some gingerbread/molasses cookies, tonight. Just round, not person-shaped.

How did I not get the memo that there is a World Nutella Day? I'm also a fan of sweet & savoury things so this Sweet & Spicy Bacon Coated in Nutella sounds like something right up my alley.

Wow. Sweet and spicy bacon sounds delicious. I will try it for everyday type breakfast. As for the added chocolate or nutella, why not?!
