Hotdogs: What do you put on yours?

As it is July 4th and a traditional time for nomming Hotdogs I am wondering what condiments you put on yours.

I go for Sweet Relish & Mustard. I will sometimes add Onion, Tomato wedges or sauerkraut...

Mustard, and if I've been watching my diet well enough to allow it, sprinkle a little shredded cheese in the bun first so that the heat of the hot dog melts it into gooey goodness.

Oh, and some lovely diced onion.

It all depends. Mustard always. The rest depends on the brand of hot dog, how it is cooked, and what's available. It may be sauerkraut, red onion sauce, or chili, no beans. I'm very fussy when it comes to hot dogs, I prefer those with a natural casing that have some snap when you bite into them. My favorites. are a nicely grilled Nathan's or the classic dirty water Sabrett, like you get off the pushcart. A steamed Hebrew National is also good, or a charcoal grilled "Boardwalk" style Thumann's or Schickhaus.I won't go near turkey or chicken dogs. Blech!

Semi vegetarian here - but I still eat a couple of hot dogs a year

Brown mustard and sauerkraut.

Once upon a time a had a stomach and would occasionally go for hot relish. Natural casing of course!

I like three kinds of dogs:
  • Chilli dog: Chilli, diced raw onions, and cheese.
  • Regular dog: Mustard, relish, ketchup, and onion.
  • Unhealthy dog: Blue cheese, bacon and hot barbecue sauce.

Just put your hot dogs on a stick and roast them here if you'd like.

Then of course, there's the classic LA hot dog.

Quote:
Not quite Mexican and not quite American, the bacon-wrapped hot dog, like the city that so fervently embraces it, has a curious romance about it. You can smell one from blocks away. The grilled bacon, twisted around a wiener, is topped with grilled onions and a mountaintop of diced tomatoes, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise. Then one whole grilled green poblano chile is plopped impossibly on top. You take a bite and think, This is so good, no wonder it's illegal!

You "may" want to go easy on the sauerkraut...

I am absolutely a hot dog heretic. Purists don't like ketchup because it's got such an overwhelming flavor, but I like the flavor of (Heinz) ketchup. I run a line of ketchup down one side of the frank and a line of yellow mustard down the other. Then I add a few spoonfuls of relish along the top.

Alternatively, I'll do two lines of mustard and melt a couple slices of cheddar on top for a yummy, heart-stopping cheesedog.

Just mustard. Occasionally onions as well. Ketchup is also a popular topping in the UK but I don't actually like it.
