So it's late Sunday night, and you've parked yourself in front of the TV (or the computer), and you feel an attack of the munchies coming on. You could go for something ordinary, like popcorn

, chips, etc., but instead you open the cupboard/fridge and reach for something... different. Something weird. Something that if you told someone you like to snack on it, they'd give you a weird look and back away slowly.

Now, I've tried a lot of strange snacks, but most of the really weird ones are too difficult to eat more than once. I have to admit, I have a weakness for pickled herring. Or canned sardines (mmm... oily). And dried nori (seaweed) is great with beer.

What kind of weird snacks do you prefer late at night?

Well I once ordered some raw cocoa beans - I thought if a high % cocoa chocolate tastes so good how will pure cocoa taste? But meh, it almost didn't have any taste, I don't know how they pull the chocolate goodness out of it

Maybe it's like "kopi luwak" -- the coffee bean that has to... uh... "pass through" the digestive tract of a civet cat to give it the right flavour.

In the case of cocoa beans, I'm guessing that it has to be pooped out by the easter bunny.

mine favorite late night snacks are usually sweet. Ive been known to nom pies, cookies, and brownies til the wee hours.

The worst thing i ate was a hamburger at 11pm. Pregnancy makes you do crazy things.

cheese and apple on toast (really, that's a super one)

i had fried chanterelle mushrooms last night, but i wouldn't recommend them as bed time eating......

those are some of my favourite late night snacks.

Of course, I don't think this is weird at all but my fave is olives, any kind will do but I go nuts over Greek Kalamata or those little French green ones with herbs. Yummy.

Toast with pesto sauce spread on it. Normally its a sauce for pasta but it makes a good spread for toast as well.

The unhealthiest snack I think I've ever eaten was a sandwich of Wonderbread, butter and spicy Doritos, but I don't think of it as being weird since I ate crisp sandwiches back in Ireland as well.

You lot probably think it's crazy shenanigans, though.

I usually get a bag of fried liver from the local Village Pantry once a week for lunch and not finish it. Its heaven to find that brown bag smooshed in the back of the fridge late at night with 3 or 4 of those little jewels all dried up and chewy. Add some Tabasco and mmmm

At the moment its cheese sticks, going through a real phase of just eating them and eating them..usually just snack on crisps, biscuits, cashew nuts.

Awww Decadent crisp sandwiches I used to love as kid...haven't had that for so long...
