Help! Need shape change suggestion for mesh

I keep finding mesh and buying it before moving around enough to realize that when I do, slices of alpha leg show. I'd make my own alphas and fix the problem that way if I knew how - but since I don't, I'm ready to just change my shape so I can wear the half of my wardrobe that turns me into the amazing cut-in-half woman.

These are some examples of the problem (though when walking you can actually see entire slices of missing leg - can't walk and take a photo at the same time):

I've tried making my legs a little longer or a little shorter, I've tried longer and shorter hips. I'm stumped. I'm sure these don't look this way on most female shapes or no one would be wearing them. Walking across a sim with an entire slice of leg missing is just too weird. Can anyone suggest how to change my shape so I can wear these?

Alternatively, I'd pay someone pretty well for some alphas that worked if anyone actually does that kind of custom work.

I"ll try that as soon as I'm able to log on again. Thanks for the suggestion.

Update: I tried lowering my leg muscles and it helped, but I was down by 10 points and still showing some alpha/missing leg when I moved (though not as bad). I had to weigh it and I like her legs too much to make them way skinny. I just won't wear that template or hope I can figure out how to make my own alphas.

Thanks for the suggestion, though. No one shouldered dresses for me, I guess.

I have this problem some too, even on a shape specifically modded to match with a standard size Medium. I've assumed it has more to do with the animations playing when it happens than the actual shape/clothing.

From what I understand many animations are a nightmare from a clothing creator rigging perspective. I looked past a lot of little flaws like this for years with flexi skirts. I just assume this is one of the imperfections we put up with to have the kind of customization we can have in SL.

That's kind of depressing, Nimue. One thing I discovered today was a skirt that was made like the old style ones, except the "prim" was mesh between the legs. It worked and looked a -lot- better then a regular prim part and didn't require an alpha at all. I hope more miniskirt makers consider using this method.

I think as creators get more experience some of these issues will change. A lot of creators are still working to learn their craft. It takes time. I can see where certain animations could cause problems, too.

Another thing I've seen that I like is a "fade to black" layer of stockings or pants to be worn under shorter skirts. It creates the natural look of the shadow of a skirt on the legs before the alpha cuts them off. Again, it isn't a perfect solution, but I appreciate the effort, and I prefer it to glitch pants.

I have a lot of faith in SL content creators to come up with clever solutions. All of this is still so new, I expect in another year we will see all sorts of great adaptations.

I know of two mesh sellers who are happy to make a custom alpha for free for a customer. So it might be worth it to ask the creator for help, it's possible they could do it very quickly.

The issue could be a number of things... the main possibilities are

a) the animation is moving the joints beyond the relms of the rigging (this happens a LOT with animations where the creator has pushed the SL avie beyond what a normal body would be able to do)

b) it wasnt rigged enough to move with the joint as you walk.

Mini skirts are fairly difficult once they get a little longer than MINI MINI length simply because most animations move the legs a LOT more than you would logically be able to move in RL with a skirt that tight.. thus breaking the mesh.

With the legs, it is really hard to get skirts to work with animations. There are basically just a few points you can really make hem lines. The 2 examples you have have above, one skirt is too short and the other is too long, neither has the hem at the sweet spot.

Everything is still a learning process, I suggest when people get demos, try them out with your AO and make sure it really works for you before purchase.
