Oh shit. Poor SL designers!

The impression I got was that, since her usual thieves don't speak English and therefore can't understand her workaround instructions for rezzing the hair, she believes they don't know why the hair deletes itself or what to do about it when it does.---
Well, I will continue to wear the hair I bought and if this really helps for her, nothing is better than that! Somehow I imagined content thiefs was those supersmart scripters. Maybe just 1-2% of them is smart, and the rest is scared away? /me shrugs

You're pretty much correct. The vast majority of them are just "script kiddies" - they don't actually know how the tools work, they just use the tools to do bad and stupid things. These people are why having easy-to-use hacking tools is such a big concern. Sure, no matter how hard/easy it is to rip content, you're going to get a few really talented people who will still do it because they actually know WTF they're doing. Easy tools vastly increases the potential pool of idiots who will join in.

No you're not a threadjack. Seen this way, it actually makes sense to have scripts like this in the hair. One of the things we've been bitching about, is that it has no effect at all, since it can be ripped anyway. If it stops 98-99 % of potentional thiefs, it is proof enough.

98-99% of potential thieves copybot the hair straight off a stranger's head without even remotely being affected by the script. Why buy the hair to copy it if one can simply wait in the shop in question for all the people that already use the hair (and demos)? Why leave a trace of the copybotting account in the transaction history of the shop? It's as easy as a rightclick -> copy/export on a stranger's hairdo.

I just wager that an actual minority of thieves resells (and thus get themselves exposure on SLX or land with a store for the most part). One doesn't notice those who keep the stuff to themselves.

I am sure you are right. But,I have no idea of how copybot works. I have no idea where to get it and how I should use it.

And maybe, maybe the "simple" thiefs is as ignorant as me? They can nothing more than use a ripping script? Then they "have" to buy a hair since demos are no mod?

I am out of this discussion, because it is not going to change any things. The designer know what her customer thinks, and she still want to use it. She even claim it works, and who am I to question it? It's her business.

I was in a small store in the Poco mall a couple of weeks ago and noticed what I was 90% sure a Magika hair for sale on the wall. I took a screenie and sent her a im with the Location.

Never heard anything but I was in the mall again a couple of days ago and when I checked the hair had been removed. of course it could have been copied a long time ago.

She did very specifically say 'new,' so it's likely they were old rips.
