Female skins: what are the must-have options for you?

So, I've been discussing skin options a lot lately. A lot of creators include all sorts of variations these days, but I am curious what options are the most popular and/or the strongest selling points for a skin.

Hence, a little poll.

Edited to add: Ideally, I had wanted to make the poll for the two top choices, but since its one or many, I stuck to just one.

Regarding pubic hair & no pubic hair, the assumption would be that if only one is included, its no pubic hair.

My top two would be 1. Eyebrow color (blonde and another) and 2. Freckles/no freckles.

You forgot the cleavage/no cleavage. I would have voted for that. Having cleavage on a clothing layer uses up the layer options fast.

Also painted om lashes for those who hate fitting - or maybe that's included in "makeup options"? For laggy occations when prims don't rez, so we don't have to go with grey "bananas" over and under the eyes.

Body - very vell defined, ripped, deep shades?

Also the prize for a fatpack. If I like 3-4 of the makeups, I should be tempted to toss a bit more money just to get the whole pack.

I would say that hairbase, cleavage, eyebrows are most important for me just now.

I have to say eyebrow color options. I just bought my first skin with the hair base thing that is now popular. I like it, but sure yet if its a must have option for me at this point.

Cleavage isn't that important I have Ayumi's cleavage enhancement and I like that better then the already baked on enhancement. I know it is good to free up one clothing layer but its rare I am using all 3.

For me? PSD files (Thanks Eloh) because I want to be able to do anything and everything with my skin. (^_^)

If I were to buy one, I would want cleavage options, and probably more than just 2. There are times when I'm small, and, cleavage lines do NOT look good on a C-cup-ish chest. There are other times when I'm in a tank top and having a single cleavage line down the center looks 'inflated'. Then there are other times when I'm in a corset and it looks a bit odd having broad set bouncers in what's supposed to be such a tight outfit. (>_<)

Cleavage and eyebrow color would be my two, and unfortunately they are options you don't see that often. I do love Ayumi's cleavage though.

ideally for me it is sevral makeup options in a pack and a freckles option (i dont care about no freckles... but i dont buy skins with no freckles)

I tend to buy skins which have the mod eyebrow options which allow for tinting.

I love curio's ability to also tint the lip colour.

Interesting. The same question asked in a group in-world had people focusing mainly on pubic hair/no pubic hair as the key option to include.

In my case, that's an option I'd simply prefer to go without. Mostly because I usually wear clothing middriff enough to be 2 pixels away from peaks and valleys. (^_^)y

Of the choices listed, I guess brows, although I actually just want ones dark enough for black hair. I pretty much never wear other colors and if a brow is light or medium, it looks strange. Makeup and skin tone variations are nice, I don't care about freckles or hair bases, and pubic hair...well, I prefer a neat triangle, but I'd rather have none than a 'landing strip.' I hate how that looks.

Yes, I would prefer darker brows than very light ones. My hair go from dirty blonde to auburn and shades of brown. I think light brows and black hair don't look so good. Brows a few nuances darker than the hair works for me.

Pubic hair is so important? Well, I like that it look neat and welldrawn "down there". If it's a pretty strip doesn't it bother me. If it's a shaved one, same with that.

Cleavage, pubic hair, freckles and brows I don't really need as options - I like Imagen's freckles but don't wear them on any other skin, and as long as brows aren't red I don't mind - blonde is yay because I 95% of the time wear blonde hair, but darker brows are fine too. When I want help with the cleavage I strap on Ayumi's enhancer. I'm not a fan of the hair bases either; if I can't make a hair fit me with prim editing or it looks weird in any way, in the trash it goes.

The only thing I've got used to is Gala's two make-up options and skin tones per pack, I feel spoiled almost It's great to have a nude option with pale lips and then dark lipstick, for example, as it makes them so versatile. It's the same with skin tones, I normally wear the dark version of the Petal shade but sometimes go for the light one depending on outfit. It's not a 'must-have', though, as I will buy a solitary skin with no options at all; it's just nice to have.

I think my main feeling is that if a skin is pretty enough, I don't care if it has no options at all, and if a skin is ugly, it doesn't matter if it has twenty or thirty different variations, I won't buy it.

I think the point is more that you get a gradual, feathered hair line from your prim hair into your skin so that there isn't a sudden start of solid prims coming up out of your head. It's one of the reasons there are so many SL hairs with intrusive bangs, to hide the seam where the prims come into your forehead. IRL of course we have delicate little whispies all around where the hair gets gradually longer, and hair bases on the skin emulate that a bit Of course, if it hides a big bald spot when you zoom out and your LOD changes more's the better.

Oh, I understand why they are offered, and at the moment seem to be gradually more incorporated in new skin lines. I just don't personally use them, so having that as an option wouldn't motivate me to buy.

I usually buy single skins, but if I were to buy a pack..it would be varying makeup, and pubic hair, which I prefer Landing strip, or shaved, as I have a pubic patch that can be worn. I use SinSkins exclusively, each skin comes with Chromabrows, a freckled version, which I discard, a prim tintable pubic patch, and usually a complementing manicure and pedicure.

What is this Cleavage Enhancer you are talking about?

At Ayumi's shop she has a cleavage enhancer that looks AMAZING. It makes all skins look better. I wear it 98% of the time. She puts it on both a shirt and undershirt option, and in dark, light and greyscale (for exotic colored skins)

To me, while those things are important, he most important thing is the lips. The mouth defines the face and the face is the most important part of all. A close second is a nice natural skin tone and I prefer paler ones.

I won't buy a skin if it doesn't have freckles. (I mean...if it's a "human" skin. )

And if the skin does have pubic hair, it would be nice to have a shaved version, as some slacks/lingerie/swimwear might not look quite right.

And speaking of lingerie, and I don't mean to derail this thread, but what's the deal with lingerie? I mean, don't the panty designers talk to the pants/skirt designers? So often I cannot wear panties under my slacks or skirts...because the slacks or skirts are too low, or the panties are worn too high on the hips.

Anyone out there have suggestions for panties which don't show under pants/skirts? I've found a few, here and there.

I usually don't wear lingerie with my clothes, so I haven't noticed that. What does annoy me is when the crotch area is cut too narrow and pretty much everything that should be covered...isn't. That happens with swimsuits too.

Same here. I have wanted to take photos with lingerie and/or bikinis, but I'm looking at my avatar thinking, is she actually covered? I swear you can see, well, just too much ... so after getting frustrated with trying to find 'modest' poses I cover her back up.

@ Maureen: I have some nice panties from Dutch Touch and Insolence that don't show over the clothes, but as with most things, it really depends on what you wear as it could be different from what I do. I usually go commando, though I double check I'm wearing glitch pants and/or my bum crack is covered up (I'm so classy).

Plus you can always add the underwear as you undress ...

Here's my biggest thing- if a skin maker's darkest shade is, like, a medium tan, there's no way in hell they're getting my money. There are some skin makers who are very talented who will never get my money because their "dark" shade is insanely pale for most "dark" skinned people's purposes. And I'm tired of hearing the "dark skins don't sell" excuse- if that was the case, why is it that I see 5-10 black avis hovering around the glow skins in Laqroki every time I go there?

I don't care about freckles or pubic hair. No one sees me naked except for me, and freckles just don't look right on the skin tones I prefer. I voted for "two makeup variations" because I like fatpacks, and it's nice to have a bit of difference in eyelashes or eyeliner or lipstick. With that said, it's nice to have the hairbase option as well- ever since I've been wearing more skins with bases, I have to admit that they do make the hairs look nicer and more realistic.

I like a defined collarbone as well, but that doesn't seem to be much of an issue anymore with newer skins.

Not sure I get the with/without freckles packaging concept. I prefer freckled skins, and when I purchase a freckled skin I like, I'm hardly thinking 'yay, my purchase includes the same skin without freckles!' In fact, I often just delete these.

When it comes to 2 or more skins in a single package, I prefer skin tone or (better) makeup choices, though usually in speaking terms to each other (light/medium tans, natural/light makeup).

Well, including both freckled and non-freckled on the same skin is generally much better for the skin maker, because a skin with just freckles is very much a niche item that won't sell at all as well. So, its a way of offering that option without cutting into the sales by making it a dedicated freckled skin.
